Bluetooth and Phone Battery Drain

Does anyone else find that having your phone connected to the car via bluetooth absolutely destroys the battery?

I can drive home from work, 45mins ish, without using any functionality... its just connected and idle. And the phone will drop 40-50% of its charge.

I thought this was just my old Galaxy S7 on its way out... but my brand new S9 is the same.

Yes, my phone reports the BMW app is the culprit as that starts trying to interact with the car when Bluetooth is connected. It seems to sit at the login screen after the car connects and I've found if I log in on the app it reduces the battery drain.

Mine was reporting the BMW app and Spotify, so I have removed both of those from my phone.

Will see if thats made any difference tonight.

TBH, i'd only want it for phone calls now and again. I find the music streaming in the car to be pretty basic and annoying so barely use it.

Drove home with the phone connected via bluetooth and the battery usage was minimal.

So basically it looks like either BMW app or Spotify was draining it. With those removed its all good.
