Actually I have to correct myself, the rate for 1601 to 2000cc diesels did change from 11p to 12p on 1st September. Trouble is, the average UK diesel price was 132.3 in August, by October it was 136.7
I just hope some of the posters above are right and the disparity between petrol and diesel starts to even out, and/or the advisory rates keep up with changing prices. |

Most winters diesel creeps ahead by a few extra pence per litre when demand for heating oil increases. Up here we are 5 - 6 pence more expensive at present, with diesel averaging 136.9 - 137.9 per litre for regular stuff. Many winters I've seen diesel 10 - 11 pence per litre more expensive in the Highlands.

What will OPEC do when we are all driving electric cars? I know they are probably heavily investing elsewhere and won't have to worry short term, but you'd think they would maybe see the writing on the wall and drop their prices (produce more) to incentivise people to stick with the combustion engine as long as possible:
After all better to have something of something than nothing of nothing longer term...if you get my drift? |

It'll be very interesting to see what a world without the influence of middle east money will be like.
No one will have to tolerate them (the regimes rather than the people) anymore, I guess that's why they have been buying up assets in the West for years however they can be frozen leaving them with nothing. From a bit of googling vehicles (cars & light trucks) use about 30% of global oil production, HGV, planes and ships plus oil by-products are the rest I guess and I'm not sure they will be doing the same as cars and light trucks and moving away from oil.
