Self sealing tyres
Stumbled across this.
https://www.pirelli.com/global/en-ww...ost_2018-11-09 Sounds interesting and could provide some of the runflat security without the runflat compromise.

Continental has had this technology for a while but seemed to restrict it to a small range of car tyres. I'm not sure why - perhaps it's not suited to high performance applications.
Personally I wouldn't be willing to compromise on tyre performance in order to have self-sealing technology as I've only needed to get one puncture resolved on my car in the past 4 years (runlet, which had to be replaced), but if the equivalent of an MP4S was available with it then I'd be very interested.

I would buy if available as an alternative to runflats but so far availability of size and type has been poor. to date, there have also been few tests of such tyres due to little availability

Funny - our A/C had self-sealing fuel tanks in WW2....a mere 70 odd yrs ago.
You'd have thought this would have been adapted commercially by now..... Last edited by Z_Victor1; 11-15-2018 at 06:44 AM.. Reason: spellynge...! |
