Tires wearing down the center, but pressure is on the low end
Hey guys,
I've had a consistent issue with my 335i where the center of the rear tires wears much quicker than the outsides. The fronts wear evenly. I'm running 32psi front/33 rear because I like the way the car handles with this balance. I've read lots of people recommend that I run 35-38 on the rears which the door sticker seems to agree with. Why is it that my rears wear down the center even though my pressures are lower that recommended? Wouldn't bumping the pressure up to 35-38 just make this issue worse? For the record, I'm running Michelin PSS, 245/40 front, 265/40 rear (was 275/35).

May have just answered my own question with some additional googling...
Apparently stiff sidewall tires can show the opposite effect under load, meaning the center wear is due to me under-inflating the tires. This is interesting, I'll have to bump my pressures up and see what happens.

i run 34/37 on my MPS4S on my 19s and they handle and wear great. id recommend sticking to the door for tire pressures or slightly varying from that to have proper wear. oh and limit burnouts..

I run 235/35/20 275/30/20 mps4s - even wear no issues
most common issue for this is a rim that is too narrow. what specs are your wheels?

I run 2 psi higher than sticker, but I do it for tire longevity + mpg, if i wanted more handling oriented setup i'd do at the recommended psi or 1-2psi below that.
I've chucked my car into some corners too at the higher psi and never have any traction issue or noise coming from my tires. |

245/40/18 front, 265/40/18 rear Pretty sure it's not too narrow. 265 is the recommended width for a 9.5".
