Where to buy best quality 'replica' M Performance Kit?

Hi all,

Just looking for some advice as I can't find a definitive answer from what I can see.
Can anyone recommend where is best to buy a good quality replica M Performance kit for my F31 Touring?

I have found BNG here http://bngperformance.co.uk/index.ph...roducts_id=330

And also DM-AUTOTEILE here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-F30-F...53.m1438.l2649

My plan is to buy one of these kits, and then maybe buy some genuine side decals for the skirts.

Any advice much appreciated, as well as fitting tips!

Thanks
Joe

Funny you came up with this question today, as I just came back from trying a replica kit on my car.
I have to say I loved the price but I definitely didn't love the quality of material or fitment. It was worth the drive though. The dealer was very, very helpful and I will potentially be coming back to for other things in the future but for the kit, I will fork out another 400 and buy oem.

Absolutely no complaints with the rear diffuser for the F36 from DM autoteile but not very happy with fitment of the front splitter as it's not a flush fit. Seems that it can only fit perfectly on one side and the other will have larger gaps and stuff which is super annoying! I've paid for it so will keep it on until it looks like shit and then will go OEM.

There's also FLS on eBay who have the advantage being UK so no long waits on delivery and easier returns process etc.

OEM all day long. The non gen stuff looks ok from afar, but up close the fit is poor and the quailty is not on par with genuine. You get what you pay for.

I have genuine carbon front splitter and it has gaps!

Why put poor quality stuff on a quality car? Buy the genuine thing. It will look better feel better and ultimately you will enjoy it that much more.

I have to agree.

I’m always confused by people with these cars who fit ditch finder tyres, replica wheels and piss poor fitting ‘OEM style’ body kits.

Gaps are unavoidable I guess but the way I have it now, it's flush one one side and the other side actually has an 3cm gap clearly visible where the splitter should be touching the bumper.

Quite hard to explain but I'm almost certain the size of the gaps will differ which makes all the difference.

I have PS4S on an aftermarket wheel but don't believe the upgrade in looks from the bodykit is worth the BMW price. I'm always confused by people with these cars who think that others with these cars will just have money lying around to waste on cosmetic bits that add nothing to the value, performance or handling of the car.

ETTO though! As for quality the ABS plastic is apparently the same material used by BMW in all items except for the front splitter so I'll live without a BMW logo on those bits.

£40+ grand car and it gets furnished by eBay

There are times and places for a bargain. This isn't one of them.

Genuine BMW kit can be found by BMW dealers on ebay at great prices. Most of the BMW cost will be in fitting which is easy to do yourself.
Sills will be around £180 and a diffuser £250.

I personally didn't opt for the splitter as it would have been ripped of my car by speed bumps. However, carbon fibre is expensive and there are plenty threads about rep splitters if you usearch.

See advice above about spoilers.

I have a dmautelle splitter and rear diffuser on mine.

Didnt want to get the oem carbon fibre as eventually i expect it to get ripped off... £150 i can swallow... £400+ no thanks!

Fitment of the front i found pretty much same as oem.... so gaps near the grills but on my alpone white i coloured them black.

Tempted to get it painted though as the matt looks cheap.

Rear splitter fitment is less than perfect... slight gap under each reflector.... but i’ve lived with it.

My dm splitter is like dk1894 however on my f31 I had oem and that had gaps too, the dm is a little larger but neither fit 100%.

Splitter is a bit of a twat to get on but once on it’s fine.

The side blades fit perfectly as does the rear lip spoiler.

For 400 quid over 1500+ I’m happy. Material feels the same quality as oem too.

I posted a thread with pics after I’d had the dm stuff fitted...

Thanks for the comments and replies,

I appreciate what some of you are saying about buying OEM - but honestly at the end of the day these parts in question are only black ABS plastic, they shouldn't be anywhere near as expensive as what BMW charge for them.

I don't (and have never) skimped on parts for my cars over the years, but cannot ignore the cost saving involved for some 'black ABS plastic' add-on parts.
I will be buying genuine decals to make sure the font and spacing etc is correct though.

SkyJawa - your post has helped me make my mind up, your car looks perfect to me with the DM kit - and I'm sure there will be a little give in the plastic to amend any fit issues along the way.

Once ordered and fitted, I will post some pictures up and we can continue the debate!

Cheers
Joe

The guys above saying that OEM is the way forward are correct. I bought a kit from BNG performance after seeing it recommended a few times on here and the side skirt extensions are the only bits that actually fit properly. The rear diffuser isn't great and the front splitter is a mess.

Have a good search around on eBay with the word "genuine" included in the search.
I got a genuine f31 tailgate spoiler from a dealer selling them off for less ££ than a replica. Got an unused genuine rear diffuser from a forum member for the same ££ as a replica.
With the launch of the new touring the stealers are trying to shift F30/31 parts stock, some are still taking the urine, but some are being sensible about it.

BTW, front splitters having gaps: the official BMW fitting instructions for the genuine front splitter says to paint a black line on the front bumper where the splitter mounts, obviously to hide the fact that even the genuine article may have gaps.
