Weird noise from engine
I have a 2015 330D with 45K miles
I had the radio off and heater off today and noticed that when I accelerated fairly hard and then let off there was a weird noise When home I lifted the bonnet and it does it when revving the engine hard. It still sounds totally normal but a weird after noise from what I think is the back of the engine, the injector rail is it ??? Its not the turbo, you can hear that spin up and down, its like some sort of air buzzing noise, again doesn't sound like any turbo pipe popped off It might well be normal and nothing to worry about, but never really heard it before or noticed it Any ideas ?? Thanks |

May be way off the mark, but my 640 had a rattling/ buzzing noise from the engine bay when the ignition was first turned on, and also when turned off.
It was the valvetronic motor clattering at the limit of its travel. Gievn when you say it happens, it may be something associated with that. |

Here is the video and noise. After I rev it and then the revs drop back down you can hear a weird sound ( the the turbo spinning up and down ) Like a rough sucking noise |

Yeah mine does that and so do all the other videos on YouTube of the n57 30d. I think it's the waste gate on the twin scroll turbo. Nothing to worry about, you probably only just noticed it as it's warm enough to put the window down

I re-seated everything carefully and put it all back together, and the noise and laggyness went. The "diesel clatter" of the engine also seemed to quiet right down. The intake leak must have been throwing something else off, fueling etc. IMO the intake pipe is a poor design, prone to not seating correctly, and the very end of it vibrates against the chassis creating a din. |

Hey guys, maybe you can help me out.
I think Im having this exact issue with my 2013 BMW F30 328i. its making a very noticable rattle/clattering on rev-down. I've made a full scan and came up with no codes. The rattle only ocurrs on "violent" rev-downs, If I let of the gas gently it doesn't happen. I've also checked the exhaust for rattles but it doesn't seem to be the culprit here. I've made a couple of clips, maybe someone can figure out what it is? |
