It is a very subjective and personal area.

That and I listen to such a wide range of music, must be easy if you are just in to rap or something.

My Shure SE215 pitched up this morning.

Obviously, they will need time to bed in / burn in, however sound quality is really good for low to mid price in ear phones.

Will need to mess about with foamy / rubbery Inserts to get what feels best for me, however the ones they come with seem to fit ok (on left, right could be a little more snug)

Sound is really great though.

Thanks to everyone but especially Mark for his suggestion.

When are you off to Hong Kong Brigand?

Just booked my holiday there in April! Haven't been there since before the handover!

I've got two passports! Maybe we work for the same company...

Anyway - actually quite annoyed I missed this thread as have agonised over IEM choices many times over the years. If you are replacing UEs then you have a high benchmark and so I think we're on the same level of pedantry. The brand I have come back to time and time again as the best is Westone.

I have had a pair of Westone 3s for years. Amazing. By all accounts the new W60 is something very special. Up there with flagship Shure SE846 - depends how much colour you like in your sound - comparison here:

Arguably you don't really need 6 drivers for most recreational listening! 3 worked fine for me - Comply foam tips are another must to get the seal right.

Anyway - that's my (too late) tip. Happy travels!

Thanks for input, yeah UE hard act to follow.

Unfortunately, it's all so very hard and subjective finding a pair that sound right, feel snug and comfortable.

Westone always manage quality products, although I have historically used the noise protection side of their range.

Yeah some countries bar entry if you have certain other places present....

The Comply I got came in a pack with different sizes for different size ear canals, they were specific to the model of headphones. I don't remember there being variants apart from different colours. The pack has lasted about three years so far and also work great at the gym as the headphones will not fall out on the treadmill!

Wow, you are right, lots of variants!

I have always used the P-series. Depends on the shape of your ears, weirdly. P series (L size) for me always do the job - and stay in shape (memory foam). Darker the better or they get grubby quickly, even with meticulous ear cleaning. P-100s would be the ticket.

For the Westones did you have the silicon in your ears, as they do for UE?

One strange experience lol.

For the custom mouldings? No - the comply tips were close enough. I think if I was going yo get the W60s I probably would though, as well as some high grade detachable cables.
