Just got a 320i 2017
Hey guys, first time posting
I have a question regarding warranty, would I be voiding any warranty by fitting 19 wheels and upgrading the stock sound to Baverian Stage one? Thank you! |

If those mods somehow cause any damage to any component of your car, then the warranty could void those specific parts if it could be proven so. It will not void your entire warranty.

Simple changing of wheels will make it look better but the ride quality will change if you get bigger wheels. Usually a harsher ride.

The wheels on this car look all right... i'd only change them once you have to change the tires, then you can sell your old rims to get back some money, but you really don't have to change the wheels to make the car look sportier.
This are the 3 mods I would do: - M3 style sideskirts ($150) - Front bumper lip ($120) - Rear trunk spoiler ($85) Total cost only about about $355 US and the car will look much sportier. or else if you're ready to spend up to $3000 then go for the whole M3 body kit with "19 wheels but you don't really need all that to make this car look more sporty (and you'll look like an M3 poser). The trunk spoiler without the M3 side skirts will look a bit weird. Your car will look lower to the ground with the side skirts. |

-Msport body kit (m3 is foolish)
-19" wheels (forged or flow-forged if possible) -new downpipe (catlessdownpipe if possible) -Jb4 tune After that... A larger intercooler and a metal charge pipe will help sustain. Coilovers for lower stance and stiffer handling. Cold air intake if you want to hear more turbo woosh (minor gains). I did all that to my 320i and would recommend the same. Performance feels twice as powerful as stock. Imo wheels are more of an aesthetic choice and it's up to you if they're worth the spend. Wheels could be the most expensive upgrade. I personally think the msport kit is more important aesthetically. Good luck! |

While on the pricier side I would say wheels make the biggest difference without a body kit. Side skirts and spoiler make a difference, but very nominal compared to wheels since they take up a lot more room.
Here's my car when I got it: Here it is after I put on a carbon fiber spoiler and changed the wheels: Though the angle was different, what stood out for you more? |

Honestly, the first thing I'd do if I was starting off again would be to code the shit outta it first as that's the cheapest thing you could do.
Some examples of what can be coded into your car (if you don't already have some of these features already): Enable Windows To Roll Up Via Key Fob Or Comfort Access Enable Folding Mirrors With Key Fob Or Comfort Access Disable Delay Time In Activating Convenience Functions (Comfort Access) Change Delay Time In Opening Trunk With Key Fob Enable Windows To Rolled Up While Door Is Open Automatic Unlock All Doors On Ignition Off Enable Digital Speedometer On Cluster Customize Emblem To Animated M Logo (For 2014+ Models With NBT iDrive Systems) Enable M Performance Logo On Instrument Cluster Enable Climate Control & Air Conditioning Memory Enable Actual Speed Instead Of Corrected Speed In Speedometer Disable SeatBelt Chimes/Lights Disable Welcome Gongs Disable Headlight Amber Side Marker Disable Cornering Fog Light Enable Fog Light Welcome Lighting Enable Or Disable Tail As Lights Daytime Running Lights Customize Triple Blinker Option To Any Amount Enable Foglights With High Beams Enable Door Handle Leds While In Reverse Enable Brake Force Flashing Increase Angel Eye Brightness On Xenon Equipped Headlamps Disable Headlight Washers Enable Car To Start In Eco Pro Mode Auto Start Stop Remember Last Setting Or Off By Default Enable Entertainment List To Display On Head-Up Display Enable Telephone Activity To Display On Head-Up Display Disable Legal Disclaimer On iDrive Unit Disable Camera Legal Disclaimers On iDrive Change Voice Control From American Accent To British Accent Enable Phone's Ringtone Through Bluetooth Call Enable Sport+ Mode (Those Without Sport Line Or M Sport) Enable Individual Pressure And Temperature Readings On Display Enable DVD In Motion For 2011 -- 2014 Models Enable Video In Motion For 2014+ Models (USB Video & DVD) Enable Auto Start Stop Indicator On Instrument Cluster For 2012 Models Enable XVID, OCG, And XVCD Codecs For USB Video Playback (For NBT Vehicles Only) Enable Videos To Be Saved On The Hard Drive (NBT Vehicles Only) Disable Active Sound -- For Cars Equipped With Artificial Engine/Exhaust Sound (M3/M4) Enable EURO M Dynamic Mode For M3/M4 Retrofits Options |

^^ Yes, coding is good. Spoilers on trunks, even little ones, just look ricey to me and accomplish nothing in the performance department.
Get a tune (stage 1 or JB4), get some different wheels and tint the windows for chrissakes and you'll be golden. That factory non tint totally clear window scene is a major bummer in the cosmetic and interior comfort dept. 1. Stage 1 or JB4 BMS/burger tuning 2. 35% ceramic tint 3. different wheels 4. tons of coding do all this and you will have a much nicer ride. Wheels are the only expensive proposition in there.

Lol thanks guys! Well for starters I just order the Bavarian sound stage one, because honestly the sound really sucks! I drive a lot during the day and music keeps me going!! Question : how hard is to install these kits? Do I have to take them to a shop every time? Or like the lip could I do it myself? I'm not handy at all...

I just got a 328i. In this order:
Coded the sh*t out of it like another member mentioned lol. Window Tint Black Grill Side skirts In your case I would say wheels would be a priority but sucks they are so expensive. But you at least need some 18s and preferable 19s for a really sporty look |

Spoiler is nice. The more you line up or exaggerate the lines of the car the better. DO NOT put m3 body parts on your 320i. It's one thing adding a 3'' spoiler or msport kit, because they go with the body style, but the M3 parts look out of place and poser. On the f30 body style it will look like you have a hunky overbite, and a dumpy butt. People will just notice what you don't have... M3 wheels, wider fenders, exhaust, the list goes on. Totally weird and poser IMO. You don't want to spend money on changing your car in a way that could potentially be embarrassing. To each his own, but I think there are plenty of things you can do to your 320i while staying in the lines of what will impress fellow BMW owners rather than raise eyebrows. Wheels and body kits are expensive. Body kit needs to be OEM or at least the same material (watch out for cheap fakes with bad fitment). Keep in mind you will also have to drop on painting and labor. You're going to want to get the right front and back diffuser to go with the kit as well. Similarly with wheels, there will be labor, tires, and most importantly fitment. This may mean upgrading to new lower springs or new adjustable coilovers. To see what I mean, compare the wheel gap around Kailec's wheels to the gap around mine. Personally, I cant stand it when the gap above the top of wheel is bigger than the gap between the sides of the wheel and the fender. Looks best when its at least even all the way around or lower on the top so the wheels nicely tuck under the fender. Again this will require tighter, lower suspension. Dont cut corners, dont do anything goofy (it might be a 320i, but its still an f30, and an expensive investment). Do it right, take your time, and enjoy the process. My advice, start with performance. Really fall in love with how it drives. Get the downpipe and jb4. Do not go stage 1. On a 328i stage 1 is effective, but the 320i is grossly under-tuned and additive boost from a stage 1 tune wont even be enough to get it up to 328i performance. Jb4 has a 320i specific setting called map 5. Once you install the Jb4 on your 320i, you actually reach a similar top tuning potential as the 328i. From there I would purchase the additional bolt on mods to support turbo flow (FMIC and charge pipe). The catless downpipe and tune will change the sound of the car. You can also delete the muffler or get a sports exhaust like I did to hone in a more subtle and dynamic range of sound. From there, I would start doing the aesthetic mods. Those are really more superficial and truly feel like a treat. I recommend this order with time between to take it in: 1. Buy a new or used JB4 and Downpipe and install together. 2. Buy a larger intercooler (FMIC) and charge pipes. This will help keep temps in line to ensure lasting performance while driving, and a metal charge pipe will hold boost and wont break unlike your rubber OEM one. Maybe get the rear spoiler at this point too as an aesthetic reward for all the performance you added (around 100+ hp/tq ) 3. At this point I would do the next three things in the order of your choice... msport body kit, wheels/tires/suspension, or custom exhaust. I will say one last thing, I often put my stock 17" wheels on when I go to the track. After getting used to the two sets of wheels, I've realized I like both. Its more the way the whole car sits. The stock wheels look way more appealing with the lowered stance, tucked under the fenders perfectly. You may want to upgrade springs or coilovers before getting wheels. I think you should adjust the suspension first whether you want new wheels or not. Plus the lowered ride height not only looks way better but also lowers the center of gravity improving the handling and feel of the car overall. Maybe after all that you can take Kafka's advice and add some purple lighting! All this mod talk is making me want a larger spoiler now too! Good luck and make sure to keep us updated with pics!
