Real Life Photo Comparison: F30 M SPORT versus E90 LCI M SPORT

Figured a side by side comparison of M-Sports was needed!

Both are xDrive too!

Sorry about the photo quality taken with my iPhone. Need a proper shoot!

Enjoy!

Love the blacked out kidneys. These are gorgeous. Still prefer the F30 body style.

Tip: might want to remove the plate numbers, for precaution.

They are required in IL as well but I haven't had a front plate on my cars in 10 years, including our X3 we got last year.

A cop actually pulled me over last month for going 38 in a 25 (was going 35, but went over a hill where the cop was waiting). For some reason (still have no clue why) he let me go with a warning and that was after he asked where my front plate was, I immediatly (and calmly) said that we just had the front bumper replaced and they didn't have a bracket for it yet.

I don't think they can pull you over for not having a front plate but they can give you a ticket for it if they pull you over for something else (like speeding), I just got lucky I guess, caught a cop in a good mood? I think he saw the two car seats in back and liked my Nightmare Before Christmas family sticker on the back (mocking the mini van family stickers).

In this photo shootout, I think the F30 wins hands down. But to be honest, the E90 doesn't look old or outdated... It just looks like a different car all together (minus the interior similarities).

I'm curious to see the new 4 series coupe though and see that side by side with the E92 M Sport and the E92 335is.

wow the f30 front makes the e90 look so old. I still prefer the e90 interior design though.

I like the F30 better but the rear I swear is much better on the E90. The lights aren't as wide which I like and the diffuser on the F30 is laughable.

Interior on the E90 is also looking hardly dated. I think the jump from E46 to E90 was much more drastic.

I feel like the 5 series does that as well. The new versions of the 3 and the 5 look like newly styled cars, something from an alternate universe. They don't feel outdated.

I like the F30 a lot better, the E90 body style is not that pretty, I honestly believe the F30 is more of an evolution of the E46 and I'd love to see a side to side comparo between the two.

+1!

Here's how I see changes between the M3's generation:
e30 --> e36 = Very Drastic
e36 --> e46 = Very Drastic
e46 --> e90 = Very Drastic
e9x --> f30 = Not drastic at all.

Although the change from e9x to f30 was not that drastic, I prefer the f30 in looks overall. It looks more aggressive due to the grill going downwards on the f30 compared to the e9x slanted grill.

I feel like the headlights / grlll of the F30 looks like a quasi-evolution of the E30. The F30 grill and headlights seem more '1-piece' sorta speaking as opposed to the E36, E46, E90 Headlight - Grill - Headlight. Not sure if my opinion is full of sht but just a thought...
