FAKE OEM?
Hi everyone,
So I'm looking at buying a set of used winters and just wanted to get some opinions on this The seller says they are OEM, now I've questioned and he's given me all the information I've asked for the problem is the back of the rims don't have anything saying BMW. I'm assuming they usually all do have the BMW engravings(even if they do they might be fake) am I correct to think this? Let me know what you think. I'm not sure if he's trying to pull a fast one or he genuinely doesn't know. P.S rims are actually for a f25 x3 but thought I'd post here as I remember when I had a 3 series the forums were much more alive (don't tell the x3 forums I'm calling em boring) |

Bonus if anyone is wondering the wheels are 245/45/19 ET34 he says he pulled them off his 2011 7series. Bore size is the same as my x3 so assuming the rim will also be the same (I don't know anymore with this guy)
But baring that being different everything checks so should be fine right? 5x 120 bolt 72.6mm bore(assuming unless they were mixing on his 7 series) ET 34 245/45/19 Just making sure I'm not an idiot |

245/45/19 is way too tall and wont fit within your fenderwell and will probably rip the fenderwell liner while turning even if it could fit

I agree that these are replicas, due to BMW stamp missing, Rep, of China, Italian engineered, XTK manufacturer stamp.
I know some BMW wheels are manufactured in Taiwan but they have a BMW stamp and most products from Taiwan are high quality, IMO. Otherwise Ronal manufacturers some of the BMW OEM cast wheels and BBS some of the forged. Borbet and Cromodora have also manufactured BMW wheels. I "googled" a couple of threads on other platforms discussing the same topic. It seems some BMW wheels are made in China, however they do seem to have BMW stamped somewhere. https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1613116 https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/c...le-309.719312/ I still think the XTK are replicas... . maybe find out the wheel style number and ask people with them if there's is stamped the same...
http://www.alkatec.it/en/light-alloy...otive-industry Alkatec writes a nice "About Us", but writing is cheap. unfortunately there's probably more OEM parts made in China than we'd like to admit, however it still needs to meet some standard so it's probably good enough for a winter setup with a decent sidewall. |

My thing is I can spend much less and get some replikas or aftermarket and if these fall into that category I might just save the cash. |

I can be sure they are replicas.
that’s why they have a box for the ET to be stamped into instead of the info being cast as part of the wheel design like OEM wheels.
