Really depends on what you are looking for. The 5-series is larger, but as you go up number wise in the BMW lineup, you gain smoothness but lose that "connected" feeling to the road. So a 3-series is more a driving machine, a 5 series more of a cruising machine. 7 series more like a limo that floats and the ride is smooth, but you feel disconnected from the driving experience.
