Oil for 418d

Anyone knows if it is ok to put any 5w30 C3 oil on my 2018 F36 418d (b47 engine), as long as it doesn’t mention ´L04’?

I wouldn't worry about it if it has say 507.00, C30, 229.51

BMW oil, of course. That's what they call 'suitable'. But what they call 'alternative oil types' is just as good. Why do they say only BMW oil? The same reason why they say 'The vehicle manufacturer recommends that you let the service center change the motor oil.' BMW, and all brands for that matter, makes very little profit selling cars. They make huge profits on servicing them.

No it doesn't. It gives you an oil spec and not a brand.

My manual says:
Suitable engine oil types
You can add engine oils that meet the following oil rating standards:
Gasoline engine
BMW Longlife-01.
BMW Longlife-01 FE.

Alternative engine oil types:
If an engine oil suitable for continuous use is not available, up to 1 US quart/liter of an engine oil with the following oil rating can be added:
Gasoline engine
API SM or superior oil rating.

The vehicle manufacturer recommends that
you let the service center change the motor oil.

BMW recommends Original BMW Engine Oil

So you are wrong when you said "Why do they say only BMW oil?" and then in the last post show us that they only recommend BMW oil.

Oil Spec LL01 is not BMW oil. I buy LL01 or LL04 BMW spec oil made by many oil manufacturers but it also has Mercedes and VW specs on it.

Recommended oil viscosity is also given in the owners manual embedded in iDrive. Simply do a keyword search for [b]OIL[/b ] to see what is recommended.

Example from my 2013 f06 650ix GC:
