WTB: Looking for F30 and F36 w/ B58

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 30,000.00

Item Interest
In the middle of getting rid of my miata because my family has grown... going to pick up a 340i or 440i GC (xdrive or rwd). Thought I might as well start looking for one starting now.

Budget will be ~30k, cash, don't mind if it takes a while for the right car to pop up. Also open to trading my 2019 6mt Brembo/BBS/Recaro ND2 miata with light mods for the right car. Willing to pick up anywhere on continental lower 48 states.

Options that I would like:
Msport
M-Brakes. Though this is not essential, since I do plan on getting aftermarket options.
M-power package with the exhaust... desirable but not necessary
sport seats
Track Handling Package
Harmon Kardon
Cold and hot weather package
White, black, or blue colors, the lady doesn't like anything too flashy

Don't really care about modified cars as long as the mods don't have huge impact on life expectancy or maintenance implications on the ownership of the car...

Mods that I would not mind having:
TU pump upgrade
Short shift kits, clutch pedal stop
cooling upgrades
reputable tunes such as JB4 and Xhp or Xdelete (although I have never owned a xdeleted beemer)
won't mind suspension upgrades but if such suspension modification replaces the adaptive suspension, then I'm definitely not gonna buy it.
other reliability upgrades

Mods that I kind of don't want/pay extra for:
Aftermarket wheel/tires...
Cosmetic mods... don't really like the blinged out ones, i much prefer going sleeper mode
sound systems
air suspension

A six speed xDrive AND the track pkg is going to substantially reduce your pool of possibilities and you’ll probably have to increase your budget. You’re almost guaranteed to be in for a lengthy search and when you find one you better be ready to move without hesitation. You should probably be prepared to travel or ship also. Cooled seats are not available.

I see! Thank you for pointing that cooled seats are not available on the 3 series. My father has a 540i with cooled seats so I assumed that the 3 series of the same generation also has them. I specified that since I live in the Midwest but I also plan to move to CA once I am done with law school here.

As to the long wait, yeah... it's expected but I don't mind! longer wait gives me more opportunity to reflect on making such a decision. I really do love my miata after all. It's nimble and light, just not good on the great straight flatness of the highways in the midwset.

Just to give you a point of reference on budget. I’m literally, as I’m typing this with you, finalizing the sale of my 2018 340i M Sport at $34,250. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1985565

By the way, the sport suspension is unavailable with xDrive, even with the track pkg. It does include the adaptive suspension, but it is not the lowered, sport suspension.

Undoubtedly I’m a few years older than you. I was reminded of the Miata just last night watching a car program on TV about the original Miata. I was stationed with the Army in Korea when the original 1990 Miata came out. I wanted one in the worst way!!! When I got home I test drove them several times, but I never did buy one.

I thought the adaptive suspension came on some xDrive cars, I will check up on that.

Wow! Hard to imagine what it was like back then to get a miata brand new.

I too love miatas, they are so light and nimble, fantastic in turns. I had an NA from 95 before my 135i. I turbo-ed the 95 miata and fell in love with the turbo noises and power delivery, so then I got a n55 135i, drove that for a few months, and went to a ND2 miata because I missed the light weight. For the twisty roads of upstate New York, it was the perfect car, even when it was slower than the beemer and less stable on the highway.

Now that I am in the midwest and moving to CA after school, with an expanding family, I am gonna finally give up the daily- sportscar fiction and change to something more realistic with 4 doors for the dog and eventual kid. Growing up kind of sucks...

Just did a quick AutoTrader search. Across the country, under 100k miles, there are three manual xDrives and three manual RWDs. And I didn’t limit for color, but they are all in your color scheme.

The adaptive suspension and the sport suspension are two different things. The adaptive suspension is the shocks. The M Sport suspension is the stiffer, lower springs. xDrive does not get the springs no matter what.

haha…..you updated your location from when you first posted, didn’t you? I could have sworn your location originally said New York and then you mentioned being in the Midwest and I noticed it had changed to Iowa.

haha…. I always say time flies, whether you’re having fun or not.

Yeah... last time I was on the forum was when I was looking for my 135i! Kind of embarrassed to say that I don't frequent the forum enough.... I am from NY but I go to school in Iowa, and am going to move to CA once I am done. Never really know where life takes me! It's a fantastic feeling though, knowing that I could end up anywhere while I am still young.

I've been on a search for almost the exact same spec recently. You'll probably find you may need to sacrifice a thing or two to find one since the manuals are pretty rare. My budget is a little more car-dependent (if it's a very nice example I'll pay $35-38k) but I have found a handful for $30k or under, but they've had higher mileage (60k+).

Regardless, if you nail one down, let us know your buying experience, as I'm pretty nervous to have one shipped. I've actually been the shipper once before but never the other way around.

UPDATE: Still looking. Expanding the search to include F36 440i GC and including automatic options for consideration. Location has changed to San Diego, CA for the Summer. Do plan to sell the Miata pretty soon.

Sure! I will let you know my buying experience! I am pretty much in the same boat. I don't want to pay over 30k for a pretty much no-option car but I am willing to spend a little more for options... It's just not very easy since alot of the postings I see on Facebook and so on don't really list all the options.

Seems to check a few of your boxes. Definitely has the sleeper vibe and is a good platform to make other changes.

30k miles or less and a clean title, you are gonna be $33.5-37k. just had to fly to California and drive one back 2 weeks ago. mine is factory mppsk, m-sport pkg, m-sport susp w/adaptive dampers, m-sport brakes etc, tanz blue car as well...but its a rwd coupe. keep looking daily and one will pop up but like everyone has said, you need to be ready to move immediately when it shows up.

I have a very nice 2016 340iX 6pd that just rolled over 65k miles that I will be posting soon within your budget. Glacier Silver over Black, two owner car that has been tastefully (not over the top) modded: https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/ct...659322537.html
