16' 320i w/m-sport suspension problems
I recently had my suspension done due to a popping sound when turning, or switching from reverse to forward drive. Had both front struts (bellow, mounts, bumper, mount gasket), control arms, stabilizer links, and a drivers side wheel bearing that was going out done. Got alignment done after too.
Now it seems to drive more rough over bumps, louder, and the ride height seems to be off. Drivers side (US) is about 3/4" higher than the passenger side on flat level ground. The shop that did the work has no idea and says its good, but I can even tell as I drive with the wheel straight and if you look at the dash, it leans down to the right. I am also noticing the occasional pop sound when going from forward to reverse or vice versa intermittently again.... Anyone experience this or have any information to help me fix this. This was already an expensive job and money is getting tight! lol. |

steering rack thrust mount? Notorious in these platforms.
Pics would be nice for the height problems. Can you measure from the fender to the ground on a level setting? If you can get in unloaded, too. Would be helpful

To me it sounds like the strutmount, specifically the bushing/bearing. I believe that was the cause of the knocking sound in the 1st place

I will get that a little later today, my job doesn't have any level flat areas so would be pointless. lol. It was definitely noticeable when I brought the car home after all the work and when I brought it back they looked at me as if I was crazy! Then they said they checked it and it was good..... not buying that. |

Could this also be causing the drastic ride height difference? |

sorry, i overlooked both strutmounts were replaced in post#1. if the strutmounts are new then it is not likely the cause of the knocking noise.

Here are the pics. Appears to be a little under 25” on passenger and 25.5 on drivers side. Sorry for the picture angles. Was trying not to drop my phone. Lol

F30s are built to be a tad higher on the drivers (left) side. For those in RHD countries, this becomes an issue because the drivers (right) side is lower than the left, a situation made worse when the driver gets in the car.

I wonder with that height difference if one strut isn’t sitting at the bottom of the knuckle.
