The factory 8,8" inch screen in my F22 2016 228i has started to bubble along the edges so I've been searching for a replacement. Problem is, F22 screens are hard to come by and the ones on sale typically tend to have the same bubbling issue as mine. On the other hand, I've found that F30 screens are plentiful and also have the added benefit of being much cheaper compared to F22 screens.

One of the guys over at 2Addicts swapped his converted his 6,5" screen to an F30 8,8", so I know it's possible. The backplates are off, but I'm not sure if you can Frankenstein the F30 screen to the F22 backplate. I'd also like to know the part numbers of compatible screens (February 2016 build date) and any information on that is much appreciated.

You definitely don't need to remove the back plate as it will fit no problem into a pre-LCI F22 without any issue.

The gap is very small and will only become an eye sore if you're a perfectionist which isn't the case for most.

Most of our F22 customers use the F30 screens and it's never an issue.

I know it will fit, but are the back plates removable and interchangeable? If they are, I might as well. Also, which F30 part number will fit my car? Don't want to buy a screen and not have it work.
