My DV+ is on order. Just wondering if something like this would work. Not sure how much torque you can get with it, but I might try it. Amazon prime for $4.

It's a very sever angle and the tensioner is in the way. You will need to grind down the 5MM key to the size of the 4mm key on the body to get any force. You will get maybe 2in pounds of force on tightening it. Mine was loose from factory, I could almost turn it by hand. I used an allen wrench to remove it but putting it back in was a bi tch! I had to cut an allen key and bend it a lot to get any force or room to tighten it. I also used blue lock tight as a measure on that back bolt when I had the stock turbo. There is no other way to do it unless you loosen the mani and drop the turbo down a little.

Also as I recall I had flutter on my car with just the intake and DV+ in 3rd or 4th with light throttle application especially on the hwy. Than it got progressively less as the spring relaxed and things settled in. As for the tune and turbo forcing more air this can contribute to the flutter but as you tune the car for more boost, the other parameters and systems that control air like the diverter valve are also adjusted to compensate in the coding for the increase, so should not be much of a difference.

Wow. Thanks. Was hoping to save the effort for $4 I have a bench grinder so I guess i'll be grinding one down like that. Thanks for the pics. Would you say that's the proper length?

Exactly. Mine settled in and I stopped getting it when in park. I'll get it 3rd or 4th if I'm low RPM, press the throttle more and liftoff.

Length-wise it's perfect. I did use a small extension on the back to get the ratchet on but I think all of those long ball hex sets are about all the same

Welp, I was finally able to finish the install for my GFB DV+, my Injen CAI came in whilst I had to find time to finish this DV+ install. Needless to say I like the way sound in unison. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1419515.../in/datetaken/

The “woosh” sound comes from when the air is released from the DV and recirculated back into the intake. When you add the stiffer spring it keeps the piston closed a bit more and not all that air is released and it bounces back into the turbo and bounces back and forth between the turbo and the throttle body plate.

Yea, BunkerJ covered this in pretty great detail... Under load it doesn't even happen.. that only happens for me when I'm static. I believe that flickr link I posted earlier goes to all of the photos and videos I have. Where you can hear it, when I'm flooring it... I'll try to make a better video soon though.

hey does the boost pipe have to get off?

I have a metal one so there will be hardly any flex in it.....

I think it's still doable with the pipe installed in your case... but it not flexing will limit your movement. I'd say give it a shot first before removing it completely

just remember that if your 16 is anything like mine they wont be allen head screws on the EWG or the 3 screws on the original DV. They were all torx bit. Just an FYI.

More than the part itself but nothing ridiculous. It didn't take them 5-6 hours like people have mentioned before.

Honestly if you do it yourself, following the initial post... it should only take you an hour... as long as you have the right tools. But having your extended 5mm ground down to the right spec is the toughest part..

I don’t want to potentially screw it up. I don’t have access to the car throughout the week because I don’t keep it near where I have my primary residence. Rather just have a shop do it and pick it up!

Btw... this may be the way it’s intended but sounds no different.

Sound varies due to mod but honestly, the sound is irrelevant. It's all about the performance.
