Stronger clutch for 340xi?
All, I feel like the clutch is kind of weak on my 340xi, and as I consider tunes like mission performance, I would like to know - Is there a popular aftermarket clutch with a little bit more bite and more positive engagement? Would an m3 clutch work?
Am I going to have problems with my x-drive drivetrain if I install a stronger clutch and a tune? Thanks |

We're nowhere near the power numbers where an aftermarket clutch should be considered with just the tunes. If you're running upgraded turbos + meth + etc, then yeah. Probably a 550i/335is clutch.

I'm not sure on the F80 M3 clutch upgrade. Looks like it's not possible, and while stumbling on this thread, it confirmed that the 335is/550i clutch upgrade is indeed a direct replacement for the F30 335i (which our 340i uses the same transmission): https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1479217

The OEM IS/550 clutch is better then original but won't reliably hold that kind of power. Mike |
