Please also post a photo of the 6.5" screen showing the main menu, and also check in eSys that you see ENTRYNAV instead of NBT in the modules list, as both the values you coded should be under ENTRYNAV, and not NBT module.

I've sent you a PM with eSys coding instructions - please use them to double-check you have coded both values correctly:

HU_ENTRYNAV > EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = "breites_display"
HU_ENTRYNAV > HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = "8.8_1280x480"
(you can also try "10.25_1280x480")

Moreover, be sure to check that eSys shows "ENTRYNAV" and not "NBT" module.

This is how I did, and what I have:
iPhone Xs
Bimmercode- appstore around 30 Euro
OBD adapter- Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 bought from amazon for around 35 Euro, link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Diagn...d93c2f4027012b
8.8" Display from eBay 395 Euro incl. shipping, check www.realoem.com if it the right part you have

Connect the OBD adapter to your car, and turn on the ignition, In Bimmercode app, connect to your OBD adapter, and choose your car, wait a second or to when its reading out your car, go to Headunit(HU_NBT)-Expert mode and find:
3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION and change it to: 8.8_1280x480
and go back and find 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE and change it to: breites_display
Hit "code" and wait until it says "coding done"
disconnect bimmercode app, and turn of the car, and on again, done!

In my car I have to change both line before the screen woked up

Hope it help :-)

Are you sure your car has the ENTRYNAV head unit, which (to my knowledge) was introduced in 2014?

Im not sure the car shows to be a 2014 but manufactured on 11/13, i do not know if it has that, so if it doesnt have ENTRYNAV what can be done to make it work.

Thank you

Unfortunately your car probably does not have HU_ENTRYNAV (it came to market around 03/2014 or 11/2014, depends if you have nav or not), you have an older head unit that cannot be coded to a larger screen.

You can either retrofit HU_NBT, which is an expensive route that requires a lot of coding and experience, or buy something like this.

I’ve swapped out the screen on a 2017 F34 build 9/17 from 6.5” to 8.8” it’s ENTRYNAV2 so ID6 Evo Light as some peopke are calling it.. The setting you would need to change is 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG. CID DISPLAY set to 8.8 CID DISPLAY RESOLUTION 1240x480, DISPLAY VARIANTE=breites display. The other thing you need to change is the separate navigtion screen size otherwise it’s not in full screen. You can then use split screen which is fantastic. I will post some pictures shortly. The screen that you need is 6822626. I paid £270 for the screen and used BimmerCode to code evertything. Dead simple and took about 20 minutes. Local Retrofitter wanted to charge £520!! But by following the advice in this forum I did it myself

Happy to see the 8.8" screen working for you :-). For future readers, here are links to HU_ENTRYNAV2 (ID6 Evo Light) with the larger screen:

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=179
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=270

NOTE: For people that don't want to search this lengthy thread, non-touch screen 65506822626 is the only 8.8" screen confirmed to work with HU_ENTRYNAV2 (aka iDrive 6 Evo Light). Touch screen(s) won't work.

Hello everyone.

I would like to upgrade my 2015 435i coupe 6" screen with a 8.8" NAVIGATION DISPLAY part # 65506822626.

Is this unit compatible with my 2015 f32?

Or do I need to go for the older part Pre-LCI 65509292248 ???

Do I need to do some coding, or just switch the units?

What's the difference between the LCI and Pre-LCI? Any recommendation for my f32?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The 65506822626 screen is compatible with HU_ENTRYNAV2, your car has the older HU_ENTRYNAV unit, so that screen won't work (see this post). You can retrofit one of these two screens, the only difference is the older pre-LCI one has a blueish tint.

Yes, you need to get an ENET adapter ($20 on eBay) and code at least one of these values via eSys (or Carly, BimmerCode or whatever you prefer):

HU_ENTRYNAV > EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display
HU_ENTRYNAV > HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480
(the second option shouldn't be necessary, as some cars with 6.5" screens come with 1280x480 as the default).

If coding isn't done properly, the larger screen will be blank or display a NO VIDEO message. You'll also get splitscreen option automatically, no need to code that separately.

Hi MarkoSK,
Thanks for the information!
If I install one of these screens, do I get map nav? Sorry, I am new at this. Originally, my f32 didn't come with map nav on the stock 6" screen. Or the map nav doesn't have anything to do with the model of the screen?
Thanks!

Unfortunately navigation is a different story - as you have guessed, a larger screen won't enable navigation if you didn't have it from factory.

On the other hand, you'll get splitscreen functionality, which is quite practical .

I would like to put bigger screens on bouth cars, so what you will sugest me, 8.8 or 10.25 size? Do i need to code unit on bouth cars or just on CIC? Is that just plug and play switch? Can i play video in motion when i put bigger screens? If i need to code it can i code with carly or i need esys or ista

1. Your F30 has CIC, which can't be upgraded to a larger OEM screen, the only option is to purchase a 3rd party screen, such as BimmerTech's VividScreen. VividScreen doesn't require any coding, however the image will be a bit stretched.

2. Your F31 has HU_ENTRYNAV, which supports both the 8.8" and 10.25" screens. Both have the same resolution (although 10" has more screen space), so its up to you which one you prefer more. You'll need an ENET adapter ($20 on eBay) and eSys or other alternative (BimmerCode, Carly, etc.). Note that eSys is more complicated, but more stable than the others. I wouldn't recommend doing the coding over WiFi or Bluetooth.

3. You can't play any videos with HU_ENTRYNAV (dunno about CIC). If you enable video playback via coding, it still won't play any videos (there's a thread about this in the forums). If you want to play videos, you'll need to buy additional hardware, however you will be able to show anything you want (nav or videos from phone, etc.)

4. Splitscreen will work automatically with a larger screen, no need to code it.

Yes, Android screens are like that. Go and search the forums, there are reviews here and there.

Thank you all, this is a great thread. Just fitted a LCI screen to a pre-LCI car. Hardest part was to get the cable unattached from the old screen.

Hi, I have bought a (10.25" NBT screen, cable and rear and front camera set) on Aliexpress with android 7.1.

Will this work on my pre-LCI F31 Touring with navi of 02/2013?
What NBT do I have? (I have carkit, usb and bluetooth)

Or are we only talking about original OEM screens in this topic?
