I'm going to guess that the above confirms that this will be the HU_ENTRYNAV unit so will not be compatible with my 626 screen?
If you can, try eSys, that's the only 100% way to check ;-)

Good news. 626 works on entrynav2. How do I get second display on the right side??

Edit:
These are the changes that I made
In 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG.
CID_DISPLAY_SIZE set to 8_8
CID_DISPLAY_RES = 1240_480
DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display

That's great work, TP.
I'm trying to figure which screen will work in my 10/16 build 330i. I see you have entrynav2. Could you say what your build date is, and what you are coding with, pls?

Thanks TP,
I got the cable, & got the E-sys links from Shawn yesterday.
First thing I want to do is find out for sure what HU I have. That's easy, right?

Great work, tpliquid! You're the first one (that we know of) who proved that HU_ENTRYNAV2 can also retrofit a larger screen :-)

1. Check which head unit you have
2. In case of ENTRYNAV, double-check if you coded both options correctly
3. ???
4. Profit! :-)

So like...
I hooked E-sys up to my car. I got to the "Open Connection" screen, which had my car VIN. I checked the "Connect via VIN" dot, but the little "Connect" box on the bottom (next to the "cancel" button) never lit up as active for selection. So I couldn't connect.
Any advice, pls?

Murf

PS: I've taken this question to the coding section.
PSS: Fixed by following the directions more carefully! Now I just have to learn the programming part....

Hello.
I have retrofitted and coded the 8.8" display.
I do have split screen.
Can add any option to the splitted screen?
If I have no destination set on navi, the split secreen only shows position, and I would like to see the map.

Anyway, with a destination settled, I can only see arrows, not the map.

I do have HU_entrynav

Any solution?

Thanks

I can now confirm that the 626 screen definitely does NOT work with any HU_ENTRYNAV unit.

I sat down with an electronics guru yesterday and we tried everything to bring the screen to life, including taking a 12V feed from elsewhere to power the screen, and we continued to get the NO SIGNAL message displayed on screen. We then tried an older 10.25" screen from an X5 that required an 8V feed only and the screen worked without issue.

So, if you have the Business unit (HU_ENTRYNAV) with a 6.5 screen and are looking to upgrade to 8.8, the only 2 screens that will work are:

9292248 (Pre-LCI)
9387453 (LCI)

For anyone who is interested, I now have an 'as new' 8.8" 626 screen for an HU_ENTRYNAV2 system.

Get an ENET cable (i.e. off eBay) and eSys software, double-check that you have HU_ENTRYNAV head unit and if so, get one of these two screens.

Hi All,

Just received my new F20 LCI. Production date 2018-03-19. It came with a 6.5" screen where card like menu is displayed. From playing realoem it seems the car can either have :

- HU High 2
- HU BASIC with GPS2 (corresponds to HU_ENTRYNAV2 apparently)
- HU FOR BASIC MEDIA 2

And since the only option I have is S650 (no S606 or S609), I guess I have the third one, isn't it?

I guess also this cannot receive the bigger screen because it's not the HU_ENTRYNAV2?

I also see these cars only have the 8,8" touch screen besides the 6.5" and it seems this touch screen requires the professional NAV, thus the HU HIGH2...

We haven't heard of "HU High 2" or "HU FOR BASIC MEDIA 2". Please buy an ENET cable and check the head unit with eSys software (see the coding forums), I think you should have HU_ENTRYNAV2 (that's the only head unit we know about).

EDIT: Maybe all the head units are just nicknames for HU_ENTRYNAV2, realeom.com isn't very accurate in these things.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I was just using the naming from realoem and etkbmw, I think, there's a difference between that naming and the internal coding, what I understand:

- "HU High 2" corresponds to "HU_NBT2", par numbers 65129387389 or
65 12 6 809 247
- "HU Base Media 2" I'm not sure and I don't have a cable to double check now, from realoem I see these part numbers : 65128705946 or 65128798028 or 65128705951... it seems to me this is a successor to HU_ENTRY (or just it) still used in some markets

I have a 2018 330i with 6 inch screen, can the 8.8. inch scren upgrade be done?

I believe I have NBT EVO ID6. I have the tiles, but no Nav, Weather, etc.

Yes, it can be done - check tpliquid's post on this same page.

You should have HU_ENTRYNAV2 head unit, check it with an ENET cable and eSys software (see coding forums). You'll need the cable and software if you want to retrofit the larger screen anyway (OEM part number 6822626).

2017 Mini cooper f56.

Any one know if the 8.8 screen from the pro nav (XL) unit will fit and code from the ENTRYNAV system i have?

From the map update screen i have RL_HU_ENTRYNAV currently running the 2018-1 EU ROUTE maps.

From the posts I've read here it does imply that it fits and plugs in and will power on assuming you code it up.

I have bimmercode and dongle.
