Reprogram Recall? 440xi Gran Coupe

I called in to make an appointment for an oil change and was told there's a recall on my car (2018 440x Gran Coupe) - for a reprogram?

Seems odd b/c I did a search and there's no such recall on the BMW website or the government recall database.

Anyone know what's going on?

Same thing happened to me for my 2018 340x. Made an appointment for an oil change 2 weeks ago and dealer said they would need to keep my car overnight for a software recall. Not sure what the recall was for either though.

Same here. 2018 340i xDrive in for an oil change. Dealer told me that they had to reprogram something. Didn't really give me much details and I didn't really ask.

Seems to be all B58 engines, something to do with the exhaust flap control. I haven't heard too much exact detail on it so I'm not sure if my car would be effected but I can only assume it is.

Haven't been driving it much but I'd bet that next time I'm at the stealers, they'll mention it.

Same happened to me when I was due for oil change. I believe the tech said it was for reprogramming dme, and said it was related to fuel injection. Said I would likely not notice a difference. I have been driving for one day and so far dont notice a difference. Can anyone confirm it is for dme and what this system is responsible for?

reprogramming...

So I got the reprogramming done and it seems like when i start the car, the engine idles a bit more aggressively. Not sure if that's a good thing or not...

For those that are wondering what this was exactly...

Bulletin 12 94 18 0012880400

No idea what that really means. Did a search but didn't find anything.

I agree it seems more aggressive. Do you think its just bc the exhaust flap is closed and sounds more aggressive?

Not sure...but I thought the exhaust flap is always closed unless you hit higher rpm's.

Here's what is more odd, but in a good way.

I was averaging 11.9 L/100km (I have a heavy foot) in 50/50 highway and city traffic.

After the reprogramming and all values being reset to zero, I'm now averaging 10.9 L/100km.

Now, this may be due to lighter traffic in Toronto last week + one long(ish) highway drive to the outer burbs last week + nicer weather but I hope this reprogram improved my gas mileage!!

I guess only time will tell if my mileage stays low. Here's to hoping! 🤞🏻

I got an recall update on mine a month ago.

I lost my AM radio for some reason. I tried pressing the "FM/AM" button and it won't switch to AM. It switches between FM and Satelite radio.

Anyone have the same issue?

I have the same issue after the update. How did you fix it?

I had the same issue. Just bring it into the dealer, they need to "turn on" the AM radio for you.
