I recently serviced my 340i doing a complete service (oil, filter, micro filter, spark plugs). OEM parts all in cost £275.
So if you have a jack, axle stands and some basic tools then it can all be done for a fraction of the cost.
(Obv providing you want to do it yourself, have the tools and the time)
Have done oil changes in the past on old cars. Not my bmws as I prefer a service done by a dealer if at a reasonable price.

As mines 3 years old, decided to have the 'value' service the other day at Wollaston motors while the car was in for the recall and was charged £125.

Seemed too low to me but I didn't complain.

Cheers everyone for the replies. I think I will buy the oil and get them to service the car.

My dealer charges me £65 for labour only for the oil and oil filter change and idrive update - I supply the oil and filter.

That's a great deal. Where's your dealer?

Idrive log update or just reset the oil change indicator?

Also recently bought 8L of Castrol LL04 oil (an oil change needs 6.5) and oil filter for about £44.

So with parts, even at retail prices, coming in at £71 that leaves at least £166 for the dealer for, say, 20 minutes work. Not cheap, but the dealership has plenty of operating costs to cover.
Thats why i do mine myself. Also you know a proper job has been done. Oil properly drained and filled, all fittings replaced and from what I have been reading no damage to the paintwork

So what’s the difference between a “proper” service and a value service?

Main thing was the price difference (£375), cars only done 18,000 and I prefer replacing parts myself. As long as it has some sort of dealer stamp, nobody cares in my experience when you sell it.
