Continental Sport Contact 5 SSR.
Can't fault them at all. Was considering getting Bridgestone runflats but kept with continental. Nice grip. Hasn't let me down at all

I had Continental Sports Contact 5's and replaced them with Goodyear Asy 2 and whilst the Goodyears are quieter than the Conti's I have had to replace two of them due to tyre bulges in less than 2 months. Oh well lesson learned..

That could happen with any tyre. I’ve got Goodyear’s, 18k miles and no issues. They are the best run flat out there currently.

I’ve had a bulge in a Bridgestone before so luck of the draw

I got 35k miles from Bridgestone S001 run flats on my last 2018 440i Coupe; I thought that was good going! My current 2020 M340i is on Pirelli P Zero run flats; I bet they won’t last as long!

I've had all 3 and the order of preference is definitely Goodyear then Pirelli then Bridgestone.

Changed from Bridgestone S001 RFT's to Continental Sport Contact 5 SSR RFT's a couple of years ago and found these to be much quieter and give a smoother ride than the Bridgestone's.
I have found both brands to wear relatively quickly though (especially the rears) given i don't do that many miles per year (circa 5-6k mainly town driving). Maybe the tyre compounds are soft like Pirelli's? I need to change the rears as it loses grip it the wet. Any recommendations? I've seen Uniroyal RFT's at cheaper prices than Conti / Goodyear / Michelin's but not sure what they are like. |

I replaced my worn CSC5 SSR with GY Eagle F1 AS2 run flats. I can't feel a great deal of difference in handling but the GY's were a fair bit cheaper (£475 for a full set on 19" staggered).
2 years in and no bulging and minimal wearing. They are supposedly slightly better with fuel economy (but not noticeably so) and are very quiet. No complains from me. |

My new June '15 330d Xd had the Bridgestones and I got through a set of rears in 8700 miles, changed for the Goodyears and immediately appreciated the reduced road noise. Now, my '18 440i GC (MPPSK) is still on it's original Bridgestones at 16k miles, they should last a bit beyond 20k but the front outside shoulders are taking some hurt. Based on folks good reports of the Michelins I'm tempted to go there but wonder if they or the Goodyears are better for road noise, compliance etc. Wet grip too is important as I live in the Lakes and the B58 on Sd lights up readily on the Bridgestones, would prefer greater grip. Thoughts anyone? Cheers Colin
