As for the washing machine, I got taught at a young age to use one. Mainly because my mum got fed up of ending up covered in mud when putting my weekend's race kit in the washing machine! 3 or 4 sets of motocross clothes caked in mud definitely don't make someone want to do your washing for you. The poor machine, what it went through with all that stuff. Sometimes it would spit bits of grass into my dads work shirts for weeks. I found that funny as a fifteen year old but as a 30+yr old I now sympathise with my dad when he found it rather irritating. Anyway, diverging, the different settings are pretty useful. I just got a top spec AEG one for the new kitchen to replace the 20 year old thing that was in there before. It's flipping brilliant; quiet, quick, dries clothes properly, doesn't stink... It's also got a setting for outdoor kit which is useful when you're using something like Tech Wash and then re-proofing gear afterwards. That said I would be lying if I said I'd read the manual to work out all the different permutations...I only this week worked out by accident how to change the spin speed! |

We've used Bosch stuff for ages. Dishwasher, Fridge-Freezer, Washing Machine & Dryer are all Bosch. Can't fault them. Also had a Neff oven and hob in the old house which were still going strong after 20+ years when we moved!!

We've had an LG one for what has got to be about 12 years or so now. One of those "direct drive" ones, which doesn't shake like a shitting dog when it's on a spin cycle as a result. Will definitely get another one when this one kicks the bucket. Thinking about it, the fridge freezer is LG and the same age too, that's been faultless.
Washing machine does indeed have more options that I care for. "Quick 30" is all that's needed most of the time.................and the washing machine has that exact setting for the cleanup after! |

Lived in a rented bachelor apartment by age twenty, so I had to learn to care for myself. It was a steep learning curve, but I managed. Makes you a man, it does.
