Best place to buy new parts from?
Hi everyone.
It looks like I need to replace both front shock absorbers and top mounts. I've been looking for parts online and eurocarparts comes up £200 per shock absorber which is a lot more than i expected. I found a website called onlinecarparts.co.uk which seems to have same parts for half the price. However I've checked some reviews and I'm very sceptical about that source of parts. The car is 2016 F30 320i LCI without adaptive suspension. Can anyone help or recommend a reputable yet affordable place? Would be helpful if someone could provide me with the right part number for shock absorbers. Thanks |

No import tax - I just ordered something from Autodoc and it took 12 days to arrive so had to buy elsewhere and now sending them back but if you are not in a hurry they are good value…

I saw who AUTODOC use for deliveries and they are a company called GLS and they are absolutely shocking, I've been in the logistics industry for 20 years and they are the worst firm I've ever had to deal with, if it wasn't for their delivery I'd use them a lot more

£200 for adaptive struts sounds like a bargain, are they definitely the adaptive ones on the ECP site? Also, who are they made by? My experience of cheap replacement dampers has never been positive...

I just struggle to understand how places like autodoc can have KYB shock absorbers for £70 a side while ECP sell them for around £200.

Autodoc, albeit slow have been fine for me, got my spacers from there and they were at least 30% cheaper than anywhere else.
You can also try RTECShop, I got my springs from there, very competitive on prices. https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/ is ECP's sister site and usually a cheaper than the main site - a handy tip for both ECP and CP4L is that add the things to your basket and go through the checkout ensuring you enter your email address - don't complete the checkout and usually within a day or two, they'll send you a discount code to complete the transaction.
