Tune options for N20?
I'm an N54 guy and haven't paid any attention to the options for the N20, but a buddy wants to tune his N20 powered wagon. I checked and neither MHD nor Cobb seem to offer a tune, so what are his options and what are their ups and downs?
So far, my research has uncovered a JB+/JB4 piggyback, a Dinan chip, a RaceChip tuner, and an "AA8". Am I missing any? What's the deal with each? It's a 2014 328 wagon auto.

Good choice, I would just let him know that there is a chance that there will be kinks that need to be worked out, but PTF is awesome at helping with that. Nothing major is likely to happen, but kinks. Kind of the nature of OTS maps. I had/have a few (all minor) and I wished someone told me to expect them, so here I am telling you

People like to stack JB4 with a flash tune for running meth and E, I believe. But I'm not exactly sure one would realize any benefits to stacking a Dinan tune and a flash tune.

Yes, the JB4 is just used as a controller for the meth. It doesn't award any additional power in it's own right, but obviously the proper control and use of a water methanol kit will.

Hey Guys,
I have tuned my f30 320i pre LCI to 266 hp / 356 Nm torque. What do you think about the chart, doesn't the maximum torque come up too late? https://ibb.co/j7KPse Best regards |

It is a custom tune that I have flashed at a local tuner .
They have also tuned another 320i n20 with a different result: https://ibb.co/iPZpfz So around 45 Nm of torque more and the curve is much sharper than mine. Also the drop in power above 6.5k RPM is significantly less sudden. My car drops like about 40% of its power in this range till the redline. The tuner claims that the tune is the same, it is only that cars respond differently to the same remap. What do you guys think, what matters for the differences in such scenario? |
