Would never buy one from the grey market. For me it would have be to be private sale from someone I know. That’s not hard.

I have the same one ('13). You had it polished, no?

One of my buddies has gotten his Rolexes from grey market and they're all legit. Just have to do your due diligence, go to Chron24

only buy from a trusted source
I would have never gotten my Daytona from the Rolex AD
so I had to go grey or just give up on getting the watch

thankfully I know a guy so it made it much easier and he really hooked it up for me when he found someone wanting to sell

If you're buying your watch greymarket, just make sure you use escrow and you give yourself a few days to validate its a real watch.

Nothing wrong with grey market, just find a reputable place. I have heard even Chrono24 has had fakes on their site before.

I had it polished a couple of years ago when I had it serviced by the Rolex service center in Dallas. I may have it polished again next year but then again maybe not. My GMT II is my daily watch so I'm not concerned with a showroom shine on my it but I don't want it to look horrible either.

I did my ten year service (plus my hour hand stopped running and needed fixing), and decided to not polish. Funny thing is — you have specifically to tell them not to — otherwise they do it. It's a bit sentimental — I know where a lot of the scratches came from — it's like my own personal map

I definitely get the sentimental aspect of your Rolex. You make a very compelling argument against another polish. I did it once and reset my own personal map for my GMT II. You sold me on not doing it a second time. After all, my watch isn't in a bad state as it is. It has a little character!

Ha ha, well I'm happy to know I've touched another life today))) It was also knowing how crazy new scratches on a polished watch would drive me All in all I'm glad I didn't get it polished. But that's just my POV)

An S&P 500 mutual fund loll

Used Rolex prices have been dropping, I really don't think they're as much an investment as they are something to enjoy that you know will hold their value or increase in value a little bit.

Wow Very, very, very nice! Did you get it from an AD directly or go gray?

If you can get your hands on some of the more desirable models through an AD like the Batman, Pepsi, Sub (LV), or Daytona... then that would be great. Although it's so hard to get those models to begin with.

I do not want to get too into it, but it was acquired new from an AD and then given to me. We did not pay $550-600k for it, like the grey market has it priced for.

Stainless Steel Submariners, Pepsi GMT, any steel Daytona (but good luck getting one new from an AD without a history, average wait is over 3 years)
