ftp charge pipe b48 leak
Hi
I just installed my charge pipe and it seems like i have a leak. There is a high pitch whine/whistle when boost comes on. I suspect its the seal on the turbo end because it looks like it should go on more than it is, but i cant seem to cram it further on. Anyone had this issue? |

Did you remove the green rubber gasket form the OEM part, clean it install it with a little motor oil around it onto the new FTP pipe?
If you have no gasket it will of course leak, I am speaking form experience.... Also make sure the large C clip, is clipped in, it will snap into place if you pull on it and it will not come out it should be OK, also use your phone to take a photo to make sure the clip is clipped in on both sides, some times it will only clip on one side that that could cause leak Also the hose clamps on the flexible silicone mid section need to be really tight if you running high boost, I replaced mine with a more sturdy stainless bolt clamps and never had an issue after that, but the ones that shipped with it you had to do up so tight it was hard to do with just a screw driver, that will make the high pitch noise form my experience |

I didnt replace the gasket, because there is already one the ftp.
I think the C clip sits as it should, but i will try to take it apart again and check... i am also suspecting that the silicone section might be leaking, eventhough they feel pretty tight. Thanks for the help and will try to get a couple of pictures. |

Hi
Tried to adjust the clamp, fasten it tighter and so on, but still there is a leak. It looks like the pipe cannot go all the way on to the turbo and seems a bit loose. I tried to change to the oem gasket and that didnt do anything. |

They are in front and the pipe runs below them.

In the picture you send of the C clamp on the turbo side, the clamp is not not fully seated, you need to make sure it is clicked into place, what you show is not clicked in properly
it may take a little fiddle around, best way I found to check it was to take picture with phone like you did, but in your photo the camp is clearly not fully seated , there should be no big gap between the camp and the pipe also there needs to be a silicone rubber gasket on both the turbo and the throttle body side, my FTP charge pipe was not supplied with either one and I had to reuse the OEM one, if they supply it with one now that is great but I would double check that if you missed the throttle body side one the one at the turbo side is much less obvious Last edited by RMMAGA; 05-30-2020 at 09:42 AM.. |

Was it a hard job to instal the charge pipe?
I'm running stage 2 on my 330e with stock charge pipe and considering to order the ftp charpe pipe before the oem cracks. |

Remove the airbox completely for better access to the end of the charge pipe and get a small ratchet key for the screws in the throttlehouse, especially the bottom one. |
