My dealer probably ran out of Germany builds so I got stuck with the SA build. Or maybe because mine is manual. Who knows

When the dealers get their allocations they are specific. So, as you say they get x Munich builds and y SA builds.

How they hand them out is totally up to the dealer. They could have been out of Munich allocations, they could have been holding Munich allocations for people who ask or they could be saving the Munich builds for people who are left handed and wear top hats.

Has your car gone into production yet? I know were week 9 but from past experience they go into production about a week or two early.

Still no production yet, but there seems to be confusion with BMW Genius on what week 9 production is. Some think it's this week, and some think it's next week.

I called again today and they said it's being produced this week, but hasn't actually changed into that status yet.

No ones seems to be able to answer this question, does a build week mean when it's goes into production or when they estimate it's going to be complete. I've been asking that since I ordered my last car. I believe it's when it's going to be completed by, my last 2 cars went into production about a week before the build week.

I also spoke with someone today, he said my car should go into production this week which means it's being completed in week 9 but going into production on week 8. Still status 112. Hopefully tomorrow mornings call isn't the dreaded "your vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production yet".

Just spoke with the automated system and car is in production! Completion date is 3/1/16

Now the issue of getting on a boat arises.

Well it looks like they were right, your going into production sometime this week. And your lucky with the Germany build. I'm doing PCD also so I probably wont see the car for a good 2 months.

Ladies and gents, we have entered production as of this morning! They are estimating completion on 3/3. Not sure how accurate that is.

Just checked and my last car I ordered finished production on 3/3. You should expect delivery early April if it follows the same time frame.

When you log onto the BMW website, does it show your car in production? If it does, is it showing your selected options? Mine isn't showing any. The only thing correct about the picture is the color of the exterior and interior.

Must be having some delays in South Africa. I was bumped from 3/1 to 3/3

Nice order, especially with the ash grain. I really prefer the ash grain to the "fine wood" anthracite that is on most of the cars I see ordered.

Thanks! My wife has the heated steering wheel and I never use it. I'm always hot so I figured heated seats were a good alternative.

Same here. Now we can really see the difference in time from a Germany build and a SA build. Same completion date.

Update:

So it arrived at the port on 3/7 according to BMW NA, but I think it was there earlier then that. It left for the port the week before.

I was hoping that I would get on the Carmen, and it appears that I did! It left yesterday, on 3/8. Getting into the NJ port on 3/23!

I didn't get a chance to update this but I did get on the Carmen. Arrived today!

Dealer is advising that delivery is estimated for 3/31. If that's the case, we are at exactly 2 months for a Munich build.
