Used BMW, tips for getting extra out of them?
I’m close to completing a deal for a 4 year old 330d.
Has anybody any tips of what I should try to get out of the deal other than price? Anything I should check for, i.e. Map updates, accessories? It’s well spec’d, including Pro Nav, sun roof, memory seats. |

A couple of free services is always worth asking for.

Also worth seeing if you can get longer on the extended warranty.
If you are financing it, play hard with the finance rates, you should be able to get them to match 3rd party providers and with a little effort there should be no issue getting them down to 6.9% or 5.9% instead of their usual 12.9% |

The service just done was new pads and tyres all round so they wouldn’t budge on extra services or warranty. |

The 330d is a great engine for performance/efficiency though. |

Several years ago I went to buy a nearly new Honda Civic Type S GT. What I didn't realise was that it was the last working day of the month, which apparantly is a good time to buy. I was offered a low price on my part exchange (£9,500 for my Alfa GT). I walked away from the deal but left my number if he decided to offer me a better deal on my car as I knew it was worth more.
That afternoon he rang, offered £1500 more (£11,000) for my part ex, and quickly dropped £500 off the screen price. Sensing he was desperate I managed to negotiate 6 months tax, the first service, carpet mat's and a full tank of fuel. Deposit paid over the phone. He confided in me later that he needed the sale for his monthly bonus. |

My take on it is there are far bigger problems to worry about. There are that many deisels out there is going to effect a hell of a lot of people! The way I see it, the car was listed at £49,000 and it’s 4 years old and now £17,000. I really can’t see me not getting my money’s worth out of it before it’s dropped to a point of it not being worth it.

I really pushed as hard as I could.
I ended up with £1000 off (took the finance but will settle it after collection) and half a tank of diesel. Thanks for the replies |
