Wow!! today i drove my friend 340 with the b58tu hpfp ,he doesnt have the e30 map pack so he is running the stage 2+ 95oct map with e30 mix on the tank, i don't know if it is necessary to upgrade my turbo,
really the car pulls like crazy in 1st,2nd,3 and 4th gear, is definitely faster than stage 2 for a big margin.

I used to run the Stage 2 95_102 map with E30 and it was very good. Stage 2+ 95 would be even better.

I need to use the normal Stage 1/2 E30 tune as I have the stock HPFP, it targets higher AFR, requires less fuel

6th = 1:1
7th = 0.82:1
8th = 0.64:1
Those are the earlier model gear ratios you've listed for the ZF45 e.g. M135 with N54/N55

The correct ratios for all B58 ZF850HP auto variants:

1st = 5:1
2nd = 3.2:1
3rd = 2.143:1
4th = 1.72:1
5th = 1.314:1
6th = 1:1
7th = 0.822:1
8th = 0.64:1
Final Drive = 2.813

Manual 6 speed ratios :

1st = 4.11:1
2nd = 2.315:1
3rd = 1.542:1
4th = 1.179:1
5th = 1:1
6th = 0.846:1
Final Drive = 3.077 M140i and M240i versions (340i and 440i final drive is 3.231)

Read through this whole thread and probably a stupid question, but is there an advantage to running E30 and having to mix vs just running E85 from the pump?

Or what can you expect from E85 with the upgraded pump? Or why aren't more of you running E85? Is there a disadvantage to it?

From what I've gathered the extra octane doesn't lead to extra power on a stock turbo and because ethanol isn't readily available everywhere the ots tunes keep it around e30-e40 because it's all you need.

I know at least one user has done a custom E85 tune that he documented because he didn't want to have to calculate ethanol content every time he fills up. That is definitely a big upside to going full E85. Downsides are fuel economy and potentially for corrosion etc if your car sits often.

I documented my progress here
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1679367

I don't have dyno figures yet, but E30 seems to give you a lot of the gains without putting as much of a strain on the fuel system. With E85 you will max out the fuel system before the turbo. It also lowers your gas mileage and requires additional attention vs E30.

The main benefit is that i don't have to worry about mixing and there are marginal gains, but probably not significant. I plan on comparing to the stage 2+ maps at some point.

I'm going to discuss this with Wedge also. Gas mileage on E85 is down to 13.2 mpg which is just stupid with a 15 gallon tank. I'm seriously considering going back down to E50.

So you are currently tuned on full E85 with the Pure800?

I'm at ~17mpg so not as bad on stock turbo and TU pump. It was ~23mpg on 93 and I don't remember it dropping at all on E30. Maybe 22mpg worst case.

13 is brutal and 17 not much better.

That definitely makes a strong case for E30 for me. Thanks for the replies

I think I dropped around 1.5-2 MPG from 93 to E30. Never really crunched the numbers, but the significantly lower price of E85 should offset the drop. Interested to see how I do on E40. Just paid for my Paul Johnson tune last night. Waiting patiently for my first map!

Yes. We're not done yet though, still only on 3rd rev.
I honestly haven't been able to get ahold of my tuner for a couple of weeks now. I'm a day or so away from getting pretty frustrated.

Damn sorry to hear that. How does the car feel on the 3rd revision map?

Ha no worries. They're just backed up and I'm impatient to go fast

Good, strong and fast. Car drives normally at up to 40 or 50% throttle, but once boost kicks in it's a rocket.
The only issue I'm having is a shudder/hesitation when I mash the gas from street speed in Sport Auto. Discussion on that in the xHP thread.
