3series GT part identification

Hello, does anyone know what the little boomerang shaped piece is called by the front wheels? I think it serves as aero for wheel well air. Looking at part name and how to remove for a little TLC. Can’t seem to find info on it anywhere!

You can find the part number here for left and right side too, also with the different designs, black, chrome or just primed

I am a little confused by this part: on my 2018 330i this part is blank - it is not an air duct, but looking at some pictures of GT’s of various vintages, there looks like an opening slit in them allowing air to be extracted. Was this an option or model or model year dependant?

Find the part for your model year. If it differs from earlier years it means they changed it.

They were originally open ducts from the wheel well. For whatever reason, later model years have them blocked off, at least on the 4 series.

Thanks. Strange that they would change this little item at the end of the model run. Sure they might have got the aerodynamics wrong, but it couldn’t have been that drastic an effect to bear the cost of this change.
