Agreed, my friend had the diesel V8 sport, and he took me on the land rover experience near Perth driving the current shape sport, and both cars were awesome and I came away wanting one.

Is yours the V8?

Well, to be fair, they can get just about any car that way... I think the BMW thing where the key sleeps is about as safe as you can get from the point of view of deterring anything other than violent crime...

We have sold 10 JLR product in the last 6 weeks and 8 of them have come back. And no, that's not our prep standards! It's just sh1t product.

Key faults, exhaust emissions faults, programming faults, the list is endless.

I sold an Audi A4 Avant to a JLR employee yesterday who works in development and even he said they rush product to market, and their warranty invoices are histerical.

So nothing has changed since I was with the brand when facelift Freelander, sorry Evoque launched.

BUT, when they work they are awesome. They are beautiful cars and have an air about them that isn't found with any other car imo.
JLR try to rush things through because they are so far behind on their launch deadlines.

They are not the vehicles that they used to be.
For me they are unnecessarily big for what they are now.
99% of them will never be taken off road. There are better, more reliable & cheaper options.

L460 is better looking but it has its issues.

Had a passenger ride to the airport today with my friend. He has a Disco - 2019 I think.
The ride was truly fantastic, 3.0D very nice too. Comfort and “sense of occasion” really great also.
He does have 4 warranty jobs waiting to be fixed though.

Thread has turned from a 'look at what I got' into a defensive argument for buying a RR.

I wouldn't drive a RR if you paid me.
Two types of people drive them where I live....retired rich farmers who drove LRs all their working life and can afford them...and 'incomers' who have moved here cos houses are much cheaper than the commuter belt and now WFH 4 days a week who also now can afford them but couldn't before.
They live in developer-built 3 bed boxes on a shitty housing estate and buy RRs which don't fit in their undersized single garages, or on their tiny driveways. All so Mum can look 'rich' driving their little treasures to the local (crap) secondary school.

Oh and a third are 'wannabe' drug dealers!

JLR dealer labour rates make BMW look cheap too!

Pond this has to be a strong contender for post of the year

You have hit the nail right on the head...... let's live on a sh1tty 'throw em up' estate and pretend we are rich and buy a JLR product

I don't get how a Range Rover makes you look rich anymore, they are so cheap to buy now!

'Perceived wealth' has always been a strange thing. Probably for the same reason that the 3 series became the best selling company rep-mobile in the 1990s?

"Ford Sierra 2.0 Ghia, or BMW 316 base, Clive?" "The BM will make the neighbours take notice, so I will have that thanks!"

£30k for a used car is still a lot of money TBH, especially when it will break down on every other journey!

Not getting at you, mate. I know you will move on to something else next week and the RR argument will be a distant memory.

Very true.

Post of the year on here would probably go something like this......

I have just spunked £80k on an EV, I know it is crap to drive, only does 150 miles on a charge, is only now worth £15k and looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp and I know I am an idiot but Greta will be happy

Exactly that. Earlier kidding aside, the spec and colour of yours is spot on.

I’ve driven nothing that comes remotely close to the RRS and Disco.

People do ruin them, there’s a new shape one wrapped matt black at my daughters school, which replaced a matt black wrapped Velar…and hubby drives a matt black wrapped Taycan.

If only I could afford one when they come out, I’d write that for you when the electric Disco 6 launches. Only it would probably say £100k and will be brilliant to drive. I’ll also downsize the house to annoy Pond and let my wife drive it to a local secondary.

If a forum for car enthusiasts is this insanely prejudiced about the things we are meant to all love, I wonder what a non-enthusiast forum is like.

Just remember some people and their split personalities are not here because they like cars, they are here to fill their dull days.......

Mind I had a shit new build and a flash car at 26 in the 80s.... maybe One day I'll get class... ?
