Well ol'Papadopoulos has been showing signs of Alzheimer's for years then, the last 60 years.

Thing is I quite like him, he's an alpha male that's had to walk in HRM shadow for a long time, her father dying when he did spoilt his plans and regardless of what people say he'll have been told "no" countless times over the last 60+ years, it's a gilded cage.

I like him as well.
He came to a charity dinner I supported to give a speech, he was 82 at the
time. A top notch bloke, but there is no denying the fact that he could have
killed somebody in this accident.
To start driving again, without a seat belt, within a day or so of the accident is
definitely a no no !
He needs to be tested to make sure he hasn’t got dementia, which isn’t unreasonable taking into account his age and the accident.

Yep, good news for the UK's drivers

I suspect that the Queen contacted the DVLA and did it for him. - wonder if anyone's told him yet!?

Not in the public interest....what a load of b******s!

One rule for one and....

At the same time, the other party milked it for as much £ as they could, complaining that they weren't contacted by the royal family in the form of an apology, which then only happened later. If it had been Joe Bloggs driving, would they have expected the same?

I disagree. The police and lawyers said that in circumstances like this, with elderly drivers, if an incident makes them realise they're not really fit to drive and they hand in their licence then they generally don't get prosecuted.

Therefore, in this case, if he had been prosecuted, it would be have been precisely because of who he was and for no other reason.

I think the right thing has been done all round.
