Don't worry about non adaptive. I've not got it and love how my car drives, moff who has one of the highest specced cars on here left it off on purpose because he doesn't like adaptive and prefers standard.

I only went for M Sport Plus on mine, which is essential for looks, but don't really miss anything else that I don't have.

My deal was when they were at 2.9%, £606 a month, zero deposit, so equivalent of around £540 to compare to Alfa, but my mileage is 25,000 a year, plus service pack thrown in.
Adaptive is not necessary I agree, and I was one of those who doubted it, but from speaking with people on here and elsewhere it is one of those cheap options that really makes the car dual purpose. Comfortable for the motorway, a fair bit more sporty on the side roads in sport mode. Most who have actually had it on their car would spec it again so that speaks volumes.

Oh and my final deal breaker was also to get the 36k miles service pack thrown in on top...

How much is that pack worth? I think something like that is my deal breaker too.

Given a factory build I'd tick adaptive, no doubt, but I'm sort of working on the ethos that if I don't ever try it I'll never miss it...

That's a fair enough ethos. These deals are plenty good enough for a spec compromise on an already well specced car.

I'd want surround view and I'm guessing that is rare on a stock car.

I suppose most have M-sport plus even on the basic cars. How much does that add to a PC generally - should add a fair bit back to the balloon so won't cost you the full amount financed?

MS+ usually adds around £30-£40pm

Those are some great prices - i would definitely have gone 440i over 435d if they were priced as keenly.

For me with my 2yr old son at the time i found the 2 door coupe more practical than the GC - the wider front doors are easy to get him to jump in than the narrow rear doors. Only thing less practical is the boot. Also i liked how in the coupe it pushed the seat belt to you!

Dealer didn’t refuse outright - just pointed out that’s I may need to compromise on spec as they are stock cars.. as I only need electric seats and auto which are standard then that should be ok. I’d like msport plus but I expect many stock cars will spec that, and digital dash/surround view would be nice but I could live without

I could potentially end up in a 440 for what I’m paying for my 420. Tbh I’d Prefer £50pm off my 420 PCP or no deposit but let’s see what happens

i've been told by two dealers this morning that technically you can get 0% on a custom factory order, but the car has to be built and registered by Dec 31st which is where the problem lies, so realistically it's what's in the pipeline or on the showroom floor.

I've got enquiries out with multiple dealers, see who does the best. So far the offers are pretty much the same lvels of discount as normal, but the 0% helps. For me, at year end, with existing stock to shift, and targets to hit, I want to see something more added in.

For yourself with the 420, I wouldn't hesitate to switch!

If you are happy with your 420i why dont you see if you can drive them down on the finance - bearing in mind the 0% is on all factory deliveries before year end?

That way you end up with the car you want (easy to go for a 20i and end up with a 40 on this forum!!) but you just save money.

What is this madness you speak of?
I would seriously suggest that the OP test drive a 440i/340i ASAP then ask this same question. MPG vs 2.0i is near enough the same to not worry about it. Smile factor = different world... Just starting the thing up with the door/window open makes still makes me smile 6 months later, and that's not even touching the loud pedal...

I've had my fair share of 6-cyl BMs in the past - it used to be an absolute requirement. Getting a (little) more sensible now. Wouldn't say no though, especially if this is a tide me over until the new 3 series has settled down a bit, or we see hints of the new 4.

is there a link somewhere showing this is on all factory cars? That may help. Would be nice to have the monthly start with a 3 again like my previous car.

I think it just says available cars only, but if you phone up the dealers say it could be a factory order if the slot was already there for a dec 31st or earlier delivery

Have you seen TRL’s deals? 440i GC with Adaptive Suspension, Folding Mirrors, Digital Cockpit & M Sport Plus Pack would work out around £500pm with £500 deposit!

I was aware of it but didn't know if it would be on the 0% apr as they arent stock cars, or would revert to 1.9% for something built and delivered after 2018 year end.

Also, £450 tax on one of these at list price is so annoying. it's a high 30s car after discounts and we're being hammered for the 50k list price.

If you like the spec then it's all about the discount, looks pretty decent.

try and get one with the dig cockpit
just freshens things up a little, and makes it look a little less outdated

Seen a couple with digi cockpit, but dealers not playing ball so much. The above one is sound but he's "insisting" GardX and Gap need to be included to fund the mega-discount, which is of course total BS.

Not even sure how much GardX and Gap are but I bet it's a few hundred!

its about 11.5k discount plus 0% which isnt that bad

5.5k a year depreciation im guessing on shite miles tho of 8k?

Im wondering if its not a smarter move to pay off the baloon at the end and sell it/trade in to avoid any excess mile fees or damage fines?
