hi guys - I have a strange noise which sounds like it's coming from right under the armrest area.

It happens under hard acceleration at low speeds, so from standing or up to around 25/30mph - after that I have rarely noticed it. It sounds like a creaking sound but no idea what it could be.

I set my phone to video and placed it in the armrest, has any experienced a similar noise?

Some people said maybe it's because of the bearing?!?! I'm not really sure.

I had similar issue with my 328i F30. It’s the parking brake cable rubbing on the driveshaft. The retaining clip broke.

Thanks man - I've done some digging and sounds like that's the problem I have.

do you happen to have the part number of the clip that failed?

My repair was under warranty. Sound seemed to come directlyfrom the arm rest, but the dealer claims they "had to" remove the driveshaft and gas tank to fix this. They claim the clip that broke was center of the fuel tank, sounds like bs to me - were probably milking the warranty labor.

So you replace this from under the car and not from inside? I have the same noise.
