I am looking at a used set of 400m wheels that I’d put on my 2014 base xdrive. Will there be okay for an xdrive model? They are a wider wheel than my 17” 393 that I have now. The tire size is right (225/45/18).

Thanks!

Absolutely! The 400M wheels are probably the most plentiful wheels used on F30 335i XDrive. They should fit any F3x. Used sets are typically about $600. You are correct that the stock tire size is 225/45-18. You can put as large as a 245/40-18 on it for improved comfort and handling, which I recommend.

Double check the back of all four wheels before you purchase. In raised lettering it should say 18x8J for 8.0” wide wheels. The 400M also comes in a staggered setup where the two rear wheels are 8.5” wide. A square setup is much better for XDrive. With all four wheels and tires the same size they can be rotated front to back so tire wear (and performance) is perfectly even throughout the entire lifespan of the tire.

FollowUp Question: would 245/40-18 square setup also work with 2K15 428i xdrive with H&R springs & stock EDC suspension with no rubbing issues - - primarily the front (preparing to switch out my summer setup: Michelin Pilot a/s4 Front 235 / 40 / 18... Rear: 265 /35 / 18) & wouldn't mind the additional comfort & ability to rotate?

Thank you! This is perfect. Way more than I asked for but exactly what I needed.

Yes, the 245/40-18 will fit fine on 400M’s. The ET34 offset is right in the sweetspot for F30 fitment. Right now I’m actually running 255/40-18 on 18x8.5” ET37 with no problems. Actually ET42 would just fit in the front.
