N47 dpf

Hi all

I've got an F10 520d with the n47 engine, it's an aug 2013 build so one of the last few f10s with an n47d20c engine.

Has been flawless up until now...

Car currently has 168k miles on it, was often doing 4-5 weekly trips of at least 45miles on the motorway with a weekly trip of 90 miles one way.

Since lockdown this is now only 1 motorway trip a week and the rest of my mileage is all local/short trips.

I recently had the EML come on and a drivetrain error on the idrive

The codes I had were

244800: information diesel particulate filter limited remaining distance available.

244900: Particulate - filter system: maximum mileage of particulate filter exceeded.

I checked ash load and it was 64g with 14g of soot.

Does anyone know what the max ash on one of these dpfs is?

I intend to get the dpf washed by a local place that does trucks/buses. Really don't want to have to get a new/refurb dpf at the moment.

Any advice?

Bumping because of a similar concern. I'm at ~55g of ash (soot levels range from 5g to 30g depending on if a regen has been run or not). I'm at 111k miles, but the codes I'm getting are specifically related to DPF efficiency, not timed lifespan. Particular sensor and SCR sensors have been replaced under BMW's extended warranty and I still get these error codes.

I've read somewhere that the ash load limit before the DPF says it's full is 150g or so.

Hopefully other diesel experts can chime in.

Get the dpf washed properly by a garage

Don't forget to ensure they replace the turbo manifold gasket and v band clamp alongside the vacuum hoses going from the pressure sensor to the DPF.
