F30 Clutch Delay Valve Delete

Has anyone locally done a CDV delete on their F3X?

I've been reading up on it and people seem to be pretty satisfied with how their transmission shifts and feels after doing it, but I'd love to see a local example before I go ahead and look into doing it on my own car.

I did it on my 435ix last summer. It's literally the best MOD I did on my car. 100% worth it. Would super recommend it!

It's a bit harder to do with an xdrive car since the drive shaft to the front diff gets in the way. Specially if you're doing this on the driveway and not on a lift. The access is definitely much more restricted.

If you don't want to "break" and take out the delay valve, heard some people had issues with it (it actually breaks the seals and causes huge leak after reinstall), you can also remove the clutch delay valve and install slave cylinder from an e92. That's the path I took.

Do you know of any shops that have experience doing this in Toronto? I hate going under my car for fear of it dropping on my head.

KTM Motorworks did this for my F30 2 years ago during a clutch job. Would recommend the mod (& KTM as well)!

Any shop should be able to do this for you. You'll have to either provide them the alternative part or instruct them to install the e92 slave cylinder.

What alternative part? I believe you either remove the CDV orifice from your slave cylinder, or replace the slave cylinder with an older one.

BMW 21526785964 is the part number for the E92 slave cylinder.

I've read on other forums of people having success just taking their slave cylinder out and removing the CDC orifice, and also saw that some people screwed up the process of taking the orifice and breaking the internal seals on the cylinder. But they didn't find out they broke it till they tried to bleed it, after reinstalling, and ending up with a big pool of hydraulic fluid on the driveway.

I just decided to buy a new and known good one to avoid any issues.

i actually removed the orifice and reinstalled the cylinder back in. be careful with the rubber o-ring on the actual clutch line. if its not installed properly, it will leak.

save yourself the headache and go with an e92 slave cylinder. from the cars ive worked on, this is actually one of the easier ones to swap out.

this mod def improved feel and the car is easier to drive but i didnt get the impression that it was astronomically different.

Interesting... My experience is that the clutch delay valve on the F32 is pretty bad. My brother has an E92, and I can still get a feel of the clutch on his E92.

Before I did my MOD, I was never able to properly figure out where the bite point was.

agreed. when/where the clutch would bite was ambiguous before this mod. it made it easier to drive in that sense.

I am ordering this part 21526785964 to put on my 2017 330i with the b46, from the homeowork I've done even though the slave cylinder shows different fitment, it was used on some cars with the N20 which means it should be compatible with my B46 transmission?
I'm replacing my clutch so I'm trying to ensure the new one has the best life it can!
