I’ve got the Road Top CIC MMI connected to my e92. I can’t get video to show when using Apple airplay(not CarPlay). Just the sound comes through. Is this by design?
I’d love to be able to stream some video to the screen while parked somewhere. Last edited by iconfat; 07-10-2025 at 09:42 PM.. |

If I am using:
SDK Version: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0Do I have the most updated firmware? I'm completely lost on the guide in this thread for updates and which ones are most up-to-date. I'm hoping an update will fix the error I keep getting that requires me to forget my android auto connect for security reasons and reconnect. |

I believe you cannot use CarPLay and Airplay at the same time on the MMI. One or the other.

Try the first one first. Use the proper MCU file you had before: Upgrade steps: 1. Format the USB flash drive, copy the MCU file to the root directory of the USB flash drive (FAT32, less than 32GB) 3. Plug USB flash drive into USB port before car ignition is turned on. 4. Long press the "Back" button and hold it, do not let go, turn on the ignition and it should enter into "upgrade" mode 5. After the MMI finished the upgrade, wait for about 10 seconds before unplugging the USB disk ============================= 1. Find an 8GB USB drive, format it into FAT32. Take the proper MCU file and a blank file-extension file named "recovery 110#" that you created, and copy both into the root directory of the USB drive 3. Turn on the engine, In the original radio menu, Wait for 30 seconds, must need to wait 30 second 4. Connect the USB drive to the MMU USB port and wait for 2 minutes. During that 2 minutes, it will go into MMI Carplay interface from the OEM radio menu and then will go back original OEM radio menu automatically again 5. When going back to the OEM radio menu again, wait for 2 minutes 6. And then long press "Menu" button check whether you can go into Carpaly interface, check if the issue is fixed.

Looks like you have an android head unit screen. There are a couple of mega threads “Android 11.12.13” where they know more.

How do I find the most up to date firmware and what firmware mine has? In my last post you can find all the information but I'm unable to find that MCU version anywhere in this thread....

I bought an Andream MMI box late last year and just got around to installing it. Had a few questions and was hoping to get some help. I have a 2019 BMW x3 m40i with H/K sound and Apple Carplay. Under the navigation's software version, it says NBTevo_Y21432J. I'm an Android user and bought the Andream use Android Auto
During installation, I ran into a couple of issues. The wire that goes from the head unit to the screen has to be unplugged from the screen and plugged into the MMI box. Problem is there is not a lot of room behind the head unit to fit the Andream box. I'm trying to put it behind the glove box but the wire is too short. I bought what I think is an extension cable for it so hopefully that fixes that issue. The other issue is that there seems to be a lot of unnecessary wiring or cables that I won't end up needing. On the CAN POWER cable, I have one end piggy backed to the back of the head unit, but there's also a long AUX cable coming off of it. There's also bunch of unused cables on the USB Camera cables. I see audio ground and some audio cables. Do I need to connect any of these? The first thing I tried doing after installation was use Android Auto via wired connection. I had to make sure that "use car's bluetooth" was turned on in the settings but it worked. The Andream keeps trying to ping my phone to connect via Bluetooth, but I want to only engage with a wired connection not wirelessly. Is there a way to turn off bluetooth on the Andream? The biggest issue I am seeing right now is that he Andream box is getting very hot. I used it for only 10 minutes and it was too hot to touch. I also kept getting messages on android auto saying that the "phone" was overheating and performance would be slowed and maps would not show 3d images. Is there something wrong with the Andream? It shouldn't be getting that hot right? ![]() Also, here is my version # SDK Version: 25.0.0.7.0.0.2.0 Cust Version: EW_E_1.6.16R5_n MCU Version: 23.12.18.113 HW Version: B_E_G Are there any updates available that may help? Just installed a RoadTop device to my NBT-EVO device. It's mostly fine, but in some aspects it behaves annoyingly.
Is there any way of setting it NOT to start AA automatically or, better, remember the last state. I want to stay on stock screen 90% of time and only switch to AA screen on my request. Now, car starts up with AA by default, irrespective of "Start Android Auto automatically" setting on the phone. Also, tapping Disconnect on the phone does not stay thaty way. MMI immediately reconnects again and AA is started. |

Installed RoadTop for CarPlay on NBT ID4 after years of reading this forum. Unit is up to date using online update, and audio is via car BT.
Siri sound is really bad when invoking using voice command “Hey Siri”, especially when music is playing. The audio degrades significantly then goes back to high quality after Siri is done. Not sure if B&O speakers make it even worst. Sound remains good quality when invoking Siri with steering wheel button. I coded CE_DEVICE_SPEECH_RECOGNITION = nicht_aktiv but issue remains. Any recommendations to keep audio quality high when invoking Siri using voice command? |

![]() Any chance you could make available the BR164t firmware you have for download? You're the second member to mention this version in this thread, but I've yet to find a download link. Currently I'm on BR157, which is working fine, but I'm hoping the BR164t will unlock the bluetooth audio, which 157 does not have. Either way I'd love to take it for a spin, if you could share a link? |

No, there is no audio from MMI box via bluetooth. Seller confirmed me it is not possible on this hardware version. Only via USB AUX. I eventually intend to code NBT EVO to enable USB2 and then use it to connect USB-AUX adapter behind the HU. If it is not possible on USB2, you could disconnect the USB1 cable from head unit to centre console port and use a cable like this to connect behind HU - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007691579858 The thing that is driving me nuts is that this MMI defaults to AA/Carplay view when you enter the car and that it is not configurable... |

Finished installing my Andream unit last week. I mentioned earlier some difficulties with the installation. I wasn't finding much room to install the mmi box. I ended using an area above the glove box almost behind the trim piece on the passenger dash. The video cable is very short so I had to make the best of it. Uninstall in it will be tough.
I dont have any interest in wireless android auto so I didn't bother installing the Bluetooth antenna. I'm using a hard wired USB connection for android auto and it's been working well. The overheating issue I was experiencing earlier has gone away. There are a couple of quirks I'm experiencing. For one, sometimes when I get a phone notification it will play from my phone instead of the speakers. But only the first time. Subsequent notifications come over the speakers To activate google voice assistant I can use the microphone button on the steering wheel (hold it down for a few seconds) however this is also triggering the cars built in voice assistant simultaneously. Frustrating but I'm hoping there's a setting I can play with to make that stop. Lastly I do wish that android auto would launch automatically when I plug in my phone. For now I have to manually go into the mmi box and select the wired AA option. There's some other quirks like sometimes the audio stops working for a but but a restart usually gets everything settled. I'm really happy with how things are working. I just wish the installation was a bit easier. |
