We need a new rule for the classifieds
Members posting a for sale thread should be required to post a picture of the item their selling, or their thread should automatically be deleted. It should have to have the date and their user name on a piece of paper in a picture with the items. It would help prevent scamers. Also, come on if you're selling rims you know everyones going to ask to see what they look like, for curb rash and such. Or anything else to see how badly scratched things are. Just a suggestion to make this a better place.

I agree, should have a mandatory photo with a piece of paper with the username on it to match. You shouldn't be able to post it unless a photo is attached.

Why over-regulate? If people want to post crappy, information-lacking FS listings, so be it, no one will buy their product, and if they do, it's the buyer's fault. We can put out a PSA asking that people post a photo with their username on a piece of paper so it becomes a norm, but no need to regulate it. The market will punish the people that don't do so. Just my .02.

On some of the gun forums I’m a member of, photos are mandatory in the classifieds or listings are removed by mods. Doesn’t seem to be a huge issue there.

Have a staff member dedicated to the f/s section and they have to approve each one. Should at the very least have a pic and a verification paper.
I would approve them |

Like this should be in forum operations and suggestions Would clean up the threads. If you don’t want to buy if no pics, so be it. If I’m selling new in box, I’m not opening box for a pic for you. Look at itrader rating and use PayPal. The crappy resolution on forum does not allow for fine details anyway. Pics always available from legit sellers on request. |

I think most people (like me) would rather not deal with it. I usually just include a picture to help grab attention to the ad, but I have had multiple sale ads where I post quality pictures, and then I get yanked around by someone that won't take me seriously unless I hold the part on top of my head while standing on one foot wearing holding up a peace sign.
Or, for example when selling wheels, you can't just post a pic of the wheels you have for sale. They want a close up of each wheel, a close up of each tire tread depths, the hubs of each wheel to prove they're OEM, etc. etc. etc. So now I'm outside in the middle of the night taking a bunch of extra pictures for someone that most of the time just ends up flaking. You know who I'm talking about. The "thanks, i'll let you know if i'm still interested when I get paid on thursday" guy. Meanwhile a serious buyer just sends a message, asks what's your bottom dollar, you meet up/ship and boom quick and easy sale. So I get wanting pics, but plenty of people sell their parts without them. Just use buyer protection on your paypal payment and you're covered. No matter what people that want to scam you, can. Even simple phone apps can modify photos to make it look like you're username and date are in place of someone else's. |

Note that those complaining of no pics have 0 itrader rating.... I post for buyers, not window shoppers You can always use GOOGLE to window shop. And as feedback indicates, buyers have no issue with my handling of their sale. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 08-21-2018 at 04:36 PM.. |

I don't think we need a rule, but if you're trying to make sale it's only common sense to post a pic or two. Then if someone is interested, provide them higher res pics via email, etc...
