Audio System Question

How many different systems were available on the F30?

Is it just Base or HK (two options)?

Base, hi-fi, HK. Some models don't offer all three, depending on the country of sale.

Thanks...

I have the HiFi and have always wondered if that's what people considered "base" since I knew it wasn't HK. Good to know.

I know the audiophiles of the forum will disagree but Im very content with the HiFi system in my car.

Base has no separate amp, so it's under powered. I have hi-fi, and I upgraded it by adding rear door tweeters. I agree that the hi-fi system is quite adequate. I'd prefer that it had a decent EQ to dial it in better, and if there was a way to add it I would, but there isn't. I make my living designing loudspeakers, so I know what can and can't be realized by component swapping. I've yet to see a single after-market speaker seller that provides any objective data that backs up their claims for improved results.

What do you need to add rear tweeters is a brand new door card how you did this?

There is an outline on the inside of the door liner where the tweeter goes, just drill a hole. I put a pair of these into mine:

As I have understood the options:
Base - better than nothing, but literally a "noise-generator"
HiFi - mid-class, adequate for non-pretentious users
HK - high-end, precise and powerful (although as everything in this world, not lacking criticism from users who know or think they know better)

The JBL come with high pass filters (of much better quality than stock) and a few brackets. I didn't use one, I flush mounted it on the door. I wrapped the trim ring that came with it with silver vinyl to match the stainless steel trim rings on the midranges.
