New time in 1/4 mile

OzBMR, you are correct, it appears starting in M2 and manually changing at 6500rpm makes a difference.

With my MP trans flash I can only lunch as high at 3,000rpm, but that's fine, if XhP allows to raise RPM much more - that's cool.

Nice time and MPH

xHP doesn't just increase RPM at launch, it adjusts how much boost/torque your car is allowed to build while the brake is depressed and it also allows adjustment of torque scaling after launch.

There are two sliders that you can adjust and you can reduce up to 15% or add as much as 40% to both.

For a RWD car, tuned, even with drag radials adding more torque at launch is not quicker, but for X drive cars traction is not so much of a problem.

For your car, you may be able to get the 60 ft time down another 0.1 to 0.15, taking another 0.2 - 0.3 off your 1/4 time, so maybe an 11.3@120mph.

xHP recently updated their apps, now supporting iOS and there's a new Android version. For just over US$300 I think it's pretty good value.

Sounds great. I was not aware of this
Isn't stage 3 too aggressive for daily driving? And my understanding if I download the iOS app (finally! lol), I can connect and purchase both license and maps through the app, correct?

Stage 3 is perfect for daily driving. I was concerned about that until I tried it. I drive around in Comfort mode mostly and it is very smooth and refined.

The other nice thing is having it default to start in 2nd gear. It will start in 1st if on an incline. This make the car so much better in my opinion.

Then adjust up shifts and downshifts in the Shiftmap editor for both D and S modes. For up shifts I use -25% for 1 - 2, -12% for 2 - 3 and the rest at 0. For downshifts I have 6 - 5 at +15%, 7 - 6 at +25% and 8 - 7 at +35%. Changing these takes advantage of the increased torque from the DME tunes and reduces lugging the engine at low load.

Not sure with the current version re: purchasing. I think you buy via their online store and then in the app you apply your token/email etc?

If you can get your 60ft to 1.59 like Glemm1970 you'd be doing 11.2 1/4 miles.

Starting from 2nd gear on all-wheel drive is debatable.
This is not the best result, with 1 gear and a little slippage.
60ft 1,7-1,58s should be at a good start

Testing a new version of my MAP signal adjuster with 2 - 3 PSI on top of MHD Stage 1 E30 base map, E34 fuel (tested) and got a Dragy yesterday.

Car is M140i 8AT RWD everything is stock apart from MHD and xHP flash tunes.

Comparing data log RPM, gear ratio, tire circumference etc to Dragy results. I've only done 1 Dragy test, will do some more some time to see if why the difference.

Hanging out to get the CG Precision DS-1 down pipe installed and see if that helps a bit.

Dragy
100 km/h - 150 km/h 3.01
100 km/h - 200 km/h 7.72
60 mph - 130 mph 9.30

Data Log
100 km/h - 150 km/h 2.89
100 km/h - 200 km/h 7.21
60 mph - 130 mph 8.61

Oz, installed Xhp stg 3 and overall I do like it. I didn't want to create a separate thread, but maybe we can share some settings and others can post it too for all.

Having said that, it was a bit unclear when I flashed the OTC map and I first hated since my low-end torque was gone comparing to MP stg 1. Then I set custom flash settings, reflashed stg 3, and then it was great. My only concern, however, is reliability and risk of extra stress on the tranny due to removing torque limitations completely and by setting launch torque to 20%.

Here are my settings for AWD.
I didn't set Throttle Blips M-Mode yet for rev-matching. Not sure if I need. The other question I have is I feel a bit of hesitation from 2nd gear launch (Sport mode) when I get on it a bit (not WOT) then it's great - torque is everywhere . Anything else I should try? I will try this weekend with a new time as so far this observation around town driving both in Comfort/Sport.

Glad you like it.

I have RWD so leave launch control alone, already too much torque and I launch at the drag strip with Hoosiers just brake boosting in 2nd gear Sport+ manual. Glemm1970 will be able to give you guidance on best settings for x drive to get 1.59 60ft. You want to increase bit by bit until you get fastest times. Once you go too far you'll get too much wheel spin and slower launch. If you are worried, leave it at 0% for both and test, I think it will be faster already that way.

Shiftmap editor I have the same settings as you for D mode and left S mode as per stock.

I haven't used Max RPM yet and leave it off as when I'm on it I'm in Sport+ and manually shifting, changing at 6500 RPM. My stock setting are 6900 RPM in S and M modes for every gear and D is 6400 RPM for gears 1 - 4 then 6100, 5300 and 6400, but I have this setting off.

Use Stock Shift Maps I have off. Use the xHP modified shift maps with the custom setting via Shiftmap Editor and it is nice.

Take off in 2nd gear as standard ON, same for D and S. In M mode it always drops back to 1st.

Throttle Blips M-Mode I haven't changed this and use the default xHP throttle blip settings which I find to be perfect in M mode, especially 4th to 3rd, 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st and when changing done at about 2000 RPM. I try to limit pops and bangs as I run catalytic converter down pipe.

Gear Display - turn this on to see current gear always next to the D or S in your instrument cluster. I like this.

Torque Limits I have off

Soft Shifts in Sport Mode I have off, I like the firmer shifts

Look forward to hearing your general Comfort driving, 2nd gear starts feedback and some faster times too.

Great result!

Big power there for such a quick time in a 440i.

I like that you've done this with the HDP6 and E30 and relatively low boost.

To leave quickly and quickly it is important to have new tires with good grip and not overexposure lunch control. With the settings of the machine, I did not particularly bother.

Thanks for sharing.

Do you think the torque values in gears 1 - 3 are still too much?

This would depend on AWD or RWD, your level of tune and only if you have loss of grip in perfect conditions?

If you are concerned about protecting the driveline with launches and fast starts you may also lower the limits for 1 and 2 and leave the higher limits for upper gears.

The standard torque limiter for the gearbox is 550Nm for each gear in ZF8HP50.

I'm going to experiment with this for my RWD M140i as anything less than 4th gear results in a lot of wheel spin even in perfect conditions.

I was thinking maybe setting at 450Nm for 1st, 500Nm for 2nd and maybe 550Nm for 3rd, the rest can stay at maximum.

Edit: I hadn't really looked at this feature much previously. I can see now they have presets for Standard, RWD, Sticky Tires and AWD. Your settings are standard for the AWD setting and for RWD they have 440Nm, 530Nm and 720Nm for 1/2/3. I wonder if these are actual Nm values as reported at clutch, if so the 720 seems too high to be of any influence.

I think that rear-wheel drive worrying about torque in 1-3 gears is not worth it. It is worth putting back at least Toyo r888r 255/35/18. Disable full stabilization and try in good weather.

For RWD I'm not worried about drivetrain stress, more about maximising traction at 100% pedal.

I have Hoosier DR2 drag radials which are a bit better than R888 and still traction limited in 2nd gear even on drag strip in warm dry weather. 3rd gear and up was OK.

I'll test the torque settings anyway.
