Do you have the KC strut bar or someone else's?

I've got a German-made strut bar. I switched to BP laptop version and it appears like it will let me post photos! You can get the bar from Kies Motorsports. It comes in a bright aluminum finish. I had Bonehead Performance powder coat it in a specific black color that matched the BMW engine bay perfectly, about $60 including all of the brackets and hardware. But Bonehead has hundreds of colors (photo shows just some of them). I'm about to write it up and post it with details. If you don't already have a powder coater it would be easy for Kies in NJ to ship it directly to Bonehead in PA for powder coating who would then ship it to you. Bonehead typically turns it around in <5 days. Parts are aluminum so not very heavy to ship.

Definitely XDrive over RWD in winter but remember that tires are a huge factor. Winter Blizzak WS90 in mountains and unplowed areas. Winter Michelin X-Ice SNOW are great on snow, black ice and cold

Got our first snow of the season while I was away in Boston. I got home this morning, six inches of fresh on my steep driveway, with more like ten inches at the bottom where the street plows piled it up. I backed into the driveway like I always do, save for a bit of a head start to plow through the pile at the bottom. At walking speed no slipping, no sliding. That's with Michelin CrossClimate 2 all seasons.

My experience with driving a 2001 E46 RWD in Canadian winters vs. a 2018 F31 AWD is night and day. Nothing beats the thrill of having near-death experiences at every turn with the RWD classic -- you feel *ALIVE* knowing that you could do a 180 into a tree at any moment (even with winter tires).

After having a E92 325xi for 4 years and after that a E90xd 320d for 5 years and finally now a RWD 420d I can say that in moderate climate like ours in Eastern Europe you really do not need that extra weight. The genunine winter comes only for 2 weeks max. If you have good snow tires you are set

Just a heads up to be careful backing up these cars (or any cars really) over snow buildup. The plastic undertray has a habit of collecting snow like a shovel when you do this. If it doesn't pull off or pop screws then there's plenty of sensitive items under there which may not like the build up if it doesn't thaw completely. They're designed more for forwards air movement, not backwards.

My RWD also has better traction in reverse but I learned a lesson when I pulled ice chunks off my fuel lines.

That's not the case with my F34, in part due to it's higher ground clearance, and any snow it might pick up melts off in short order once in my garage. I back it into my driveway not because it has better traction going backwards, it doesn't, but because then I don't have to back it out of the driveway.

I've driven both RWD and currently I'm driving XDrive and to be honest you can still have fun with XDrive and it makes your car much more usable in the winter... So my vote goes to XDrive for versatility

I live is SW Florida and it rains a lot during the Summer months. From a safety standpoint, would I be better off with XDrive or RWD?

So I searched my question and found that the tire matters most in the rain. The number of tires powering the vehicle have little to do with hydroplaning potential. I suppose the only real benefit of XDrive is straight line acceleration.

xDrive isn't exclusively a cold weather thing, I would still buy one even if I lived somewhere warm. For drag racing 60ft times are inconsistent with RWD and only match or exceed AWD in perfect conditions. xDrive can get amazing 60ft times back to back at the track and on the street so for me that is optimal. Not everyone drag races, or dig races, so this is a niche perspective.

Both my previous 3-coupes were RWD and in the UK, using them as daily drivers, the only time RWD affected me negatively was on the one day each year when a half-inch of snow stopped all trains, blocked all traffic and meant people were allowed to leave early from work to cope with it all.

On those days, I really didn't like RWD.

I have now had two days in my new F32 with XDrive and so far, I love it more than I ever did my previous ones.

I suspect this is because I am not a skilled track or racing driver or indeed a boy racer - I took great pleasure this morning in taking a corner very sharply and feeling no roll.

I think I'm an old person, in BMW terms.

Super grip, throttle response and overall grunt.
Was also un-intimidating. Comfortable and easy to drive fast.
Set suspension to comfort
Throttle and steering to sport
So impressed….. reinforces my excitement and pre-order for a G80MT.
