Dinan Stage 1 (F32/n20) - Questions.

So I have issues - help a brother out.

I transitioned from JDM to German last year and decided to start modding my 428i Coupe just for kicks.

I had the Dinan FreeFlow exhaust installed and most recently the Stage 1 tune from a new, but respectable/trustworthy shop.

When I initially got it done, I was pretty unimpressed. I felt like the car was no different than when I swapped the selection from Comfort to Sport, but maybe my expectations were too high.

For the n20, Dinan's claim is:
Max HP Gain 46 @ 5500 RPM
Max Torque Gain 44 @ 3500 RPM

Took it out a few times and floored it, but my Power and Torque meters are the same as before, specially the HP which seems to cap at about 245hp (+/- 3)

I called the shop and they said that in some cases it takes a couple of restarts before it takes. While not common, I've read that this is not that strange.

Drove it for a few weeks and had them reach out to Dinan. They ran some tests on it and went from Standard to Stage 1 on the Dinantronics app -- Picked it up today and I can't tell a fkn difference.

Punched it a few times and my Power meter is still capping out at 242/3hp or so.

Maybe i'm crazy and it is all phycological and the Power meter is not responding, but that sounds absolutely insane to me that I would be getting an additional 40+hp and the meter doesn't acknowledge it.

Shop said that if I'm not 100% satisfied they will get it all squared away, which I believe, so not too concerned about it, but just want to make sure this is normal - or not.

Anyone have similar issues or am I a fkn loon with super high expectations?

Interesting and kind of doesn't make sense - I assume it's just for looks then, if it isn't properly measuring.

I always assumed that it was just for show. Watching it a few times while driving and it doesn't really seem correct to me.

However, i would expect you to feel a difference

I can't speak for the N20 but for N55, I could hardly tell the difference. The car is faster, but it doesn't feel like it is faster. I feel like Dinan smooths out the power delivery so the car is not as punchy in Sports mode. But the speedometer does go up faster.

This is just from my butt dyno, so take it with a grain of salt.

Thanks – I think you're right and have been doing some highway punchin. It does feel faster. I'm thinking I may just go Stage 3 or 4 w/ out the brake upgrade for now.
Appreciate the feedback.
