MP Flashed 340 at autocross

Went to my first autocross today, after nearly 30 years of BMW ownership, (A BCCA event) with my Son. We absolutely flogged the car and it came through like a thoroughbred granted my first auto cross so you may say "whats your point of reference"....fair question.

My Son and I have been to the Thermal facility and took laps with instructors on the course so I have "a sense" but by no means an expert (cough cough not even close) when it comes to objectivity defining a car flogging. This experience was quite a bit faster and more violent and eye opening compared to Thermal (also in a 340i and also an M3) . I was told they (the BMW club) set up quite the large quick open course for this one

That said I did want to share two things relative to the tune:

1-because my Son and I shared a car our laps were doubled so the car ran 16 laps hard eight and eight with a short break in between the car didn't skip a beat

2-four of the laps were with instructors (each with 20+ years experience - point being gosh did they drive hard - loved it) and this was the fun part that I wanted to share both commented "this car has a lot of torque" neither one had any idea it was flashed and I was too busy holding on for dear life to explain (not really dear life - but my god can my car really do this with a decades skilled driver....i guess it can) to clarify we each had two...four lap sessions the first of which were with the instructor behind the wheel - subsequent sessions were with the instructor in the passenger seat

So that's all 16 hard laps and the car just kept going and pulling

Ps- kudos to BCCA SD for a top notch event! With amazing instructors and a great group of enthusiasts in attendance

Actually, it's supposed to be for B58 modifications for the 340i. At least that's how I navigated here.

You really should - very laid back helpful group - and they (BMW Car Club of America San Diego Chapter) are very active with events and do 10-11 autocross's a year - so you are lucky to be so close

Join BCCA - then go to the SD chapter website and sign up - next one is in about 3 weeks! I may be there solo (homecoming night for my Son)

It quickly made me understand what our cars are capable of and at the same time made me realize how we waste these cars just driving around town.
