335d low-rev hesitation

Having owned a 335d for three years, I am accustomed to the comfort-mode impression that when you press the accelerator, an electronic committee meeting takes place and after some deliberation, the driver's request to speed up the car is approved. I've recently had the impression that this has got worse, at low revs, across a range of speeeds. As if the gear-box has become very dim-witted and needs prodding more firmly to wake up. Performance in Sport seems ok.

No warning light yet, but am sure the low-rev character is not right. Anyone have any suggestions? Car is standard, only thing done to the car is EGR valve replacement on last day of warranty last November.

How many miles? Probably needs a 'box oil change, ZF recommend every 37,000 miles.

Is this during the morning when car is cold? does it get any better when the car warms up? Mine 435d does this on cold morning but behave fine when warmed up. Noted that when cold the car stays in lower gears for longer, and require hard press to shit to next gears. Would be interesting to see what others say with similar issue, and what was the fix.

Perform a throttle reset?

Mine's pretty horrible first thing when cold. Hesitant and jerky but once warm super smooth.

That sounds something quite interesting to try...

Thanks for the comments/suggestions. Car is on 45,000 miles and I've started to notice the issue when the engine is at full temp. However, the throttle reset procedure may have helped. Not had chance yet to do a proper run in it, but keeping fingers crossed.

An update. The throttle reset did not work, and the car was just horrible in comfort mode, gearbox hopelessly confused. Took it to dealer, after a road test they agreed and did various checks. They concluded that the driver adaptation software had somehow messed up and after completely clearing adaptation from the system/applying updates, the car is now wafting around and is choosing a sensible gear when I pull onto a roundabout.

Did they have any theories about what could have caused it? I would hate to think there is a software bug that might strike without notice. Good to hear it is resolved for you.

I think it has to be a software bug, dealer mentioned that clearing adaptation is something they sometimes have to do. In my case the adaptation in comfort mode could not be broken by stick left-enthusiastic driving, every time I reverted to normal auto, the problem came back. Hopefully, it will stay fixed now.
