Yes, the gauge will change to a "wider span" of power and torque.
I don't know regarding 1/4 mile, but BMW claims it will do 0-100kmh (0-60mph) 0,2 seconds faster.

2016:
M package I: $1900 (added during car build)
MPPK (effectively M package II): $4020 + labor
Total for both: $5920 + labor

2017:
M package I: $1500
M Package II: $2800
Total for both: $4300

It was a serious WTF moment...
I had the same thoughts but if you do the math it's not that bad. The higher interest rate and risudual of the 2017 make it about even.

HI all,

Just a minor correction for the canadian buyers.

There are 2 different M performance 1 package
$1500 - M performance 1 - active steering, suspension and 403m 19" rims called 2PF package

$1900 - M performance 1 - active steering, suspension, 442 19" rims and msport brakes

i was surprised but i just got my car 2 weeks ago and almost got stuck with 2PF package without m sport brakes.

With the online configurator, you can see the two diff package prices. For step of selecting rims, if you select the 403M rims, it will force you to select a $1500 m perf 1 package. If you select the 442M rims, and get to packages and select m perf 1 package which is $1900

So how did you resolve it? I read bmw stopped offering the 403 rims with m sport brakes as it showed the brake dust too much and people complained.

The issue is for us XI owner... the 2nd package doesnt come with All season tires...at least not in the US. I even tried getting the dealership to do a one off but wanted to charge me crazy amount for tires...

So dumb to not even offer it!

i didn't solve it. I just got the 442 rims with RFT tires

I couldn't find a 6MT with white/black combo and Prem Enhanced and M1 and M2.

So ended up with the White on black, 6MT, prem essential and M1 and M2

What's the issue? I wanted real winter tires anyway, so getting summers instead of all seasons was fine by me. If you want all-seasons, don't go for the high performance package? they offer lots of different tire options, including many all-season options, if you don't go for the 'higher performance' packages. (I only know the US packages, but without track handling package, there are many options. They drop to only 3 options with track handling. They drop to 2 options if you want both track handling package and M sport package. Those two options are 18" style 397 orbit grey wheels with non-run-flat summer tires (pilot super sports), or 19" 442m silver/orbit grey wheels with run-flat summer tires.)

Ok so we're the same.
Sucks there's no rear 12v socket.
I got nowhere to plug my rear cam.
Can't believe BMW cheaping out on these small things.

There is a socket in the trunk, switched with the ignition. Plug your camera in there and the power wires are hidden.

My 2016 340xi has one on the driver side, inside the trunk. Maybe the 2017 has it omitted?

Super handy if you need to use a POS econo air compressor.
