Agreed. I have the AA exhaust on my 2016 340i xDrive and love how it sounds. It's not too loud but has a nice note to it. But at the same time I am considering the AA downpipe for the added power and sound.

I think it sounds perfect with catted downpipe

If you are looking for an aggressive sound and dont mind a little raspiness, catless with this exhaust sounds great.

If you prefer a clean tone, get the catted downpipe

That's my plan. It will just take a while for the video with the AA catted downpipe since I need to save up to get it. But I'll get the video with just the AA exhaust posted in the next day or two.

The sound quality isn't great but I will say that I really like the sound of the exhaust. I wanted something that sounded better than the stock exhaust and was a little bit more aggressive but not too much (the X3 M40i parked next to it covers that).

And sorry for not having any sound clips while driving. I don't have a camera for it. The exhaust has a nice sounding note to it when accelerating and has very little to no drone.

I forgot to mention that the first two revs are in Comfort mode, the second two are in Sport mode and the last two are in Sport + mode. While you can't tell so much from this video, burbles are more pronounced in Sport and Sport + compared to Comfort.

BMWApp Thanks for the upload -- appreciate it man! I'm currently debating between AA and AWE. AA is substantially cheaper but I think after hearing your soundclip I'm leaning towards the more aggressive burbly sounding AWE:

But I'm also considering a VRSF / ER catted DP ... maybe AA+DP would give me more than enough. Once again I'll be waiting on your before/after vid

It's going to be a while for me on the AA catted downpipe. I'm not in the market for it right now.

It might be a little late if you have already purchased an exhaust but I did just buy the Active Autowerke catted downpipe from Mike at Extreme Powerhouse. I'm hoping to get it installed in the next two weeks and will post a video of it with my Active Autowerke exhaust along with my impression on the sound and performance improvements.

Here is a sound clip of a cold start with the AA catted downpipe and AA axle back exhaust on my 2016 340i. I got the downpipe installed today and am loving it so far. It's definitely louder on the cold start but not too loud. I'm liking the improvement!
