Oil Service Cost

I have not had a chance to ring around yet but just been quoted £209 for an oil and micro filter service (and that includes a discount apparently).

What are others paying please so that I can ring around and check with better information.

For some reason the BMW servicing website is quoting £159!!

Thanks
Andrew

Garage List
2014 BMW F82 M4  [0.00]
Hi have you got any decent independent garages around you - sure you could find one cheaper than the price you have been quoted.

Just curious as I have an oil service due in around 1500 miles....

Roughly speaking how much more value does FBMWSH add to a car when part ex-ing at the dealer compared to the car having FSH?

I guess if the car doesn't have full BMWSH then they won't be able to sell it as an AUC or does an independent garage service still count towards that.

I'm in the same boat, cars 4 years old and at 70k. Independent is over £100 cheaper for a full service and I trust them more as Bmw didn't do up the fuel filter correctly last time. But is £100 (£50 a year) wort it to keep Bmw history. Mind you at my millage If I ever traded in then they wouldn't put it up in most garages.

Iv Just had mine done at sandal Bmw. Similar position to you keep it FBMWSH or look elsewhere. Service pack expired at 50k and the car was showing 50600 it so and they wouldn’t warrant it little bit dissapointes. I was quoted a discount rate of £205 a mate of mine works there so managed to do it for me for £150. Considering the value and what people are like now I opted to stay with full Bmw as they update the history electronically on the idrive too.

The Sytner dealer where I bought my car recently emailed me to offer me a £99 oil and filter service on my 335d, which sounded very reasonable. There was a small asterisk next to the price, and when I read down to the asterisk below it says excludes 335d!

It does include the 330d though so even though this is a targeted offer, there may be room to negotiate.

I can't understand why it includes 330d but excludes 335d: isn't it the same oil filter, same pollen filter and same quantity of oil? Or does the 335d have a super special oil filter?

Had the following service last week at BMW Stephen James, Bromley for my 320D:-
Oil change
Plus Replacement: oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, micro filter
Plus Vehicle check.

On leaving the car they advised cost of : £395.
I said, that’s a bit steep! How about some discount?
They said when you pick up the car they will see what discount we can do.
When I returned they said that was already the discounted price, as the full list price was £612!
I nearly fell off my chair!

They then said, hold on a moment, that price only includes discount for Labour, not Material.
I’ll see what I can do, I’ll have a word with the Manager.
After a long wait, he came back and said, Ive had a word with the Manager and we can give you a further discount on the material, dropping the price to £355.
Well, that’s better than £395.
My problem is that I have BMW Extended Warranty and that stipulates that you have to have the car serviced at a BMW Main Dealer.
Has anybody a price for the same BMW service to compare?

Why on earth are you not getting a quote BEFORE booking the car in with them, and negotiating from a position of at least some strength ?

Different dealers will compete if they need to for the work. But 'darn sarf' you will undoubtedly have to pay more than us northerners, and discounts may be harder to come by - it all depends on how busy the workshop is.

I have just been quoted £320 by HR and Owen BMW. For oil and microfilter change at 73k mileage on 428i.

I have a monthly on going warranty, if I use an indy then service with original OEM oil and micro filter.

The warranty should be apparently fine. Is that true?.

£320 for oil and microfilter sounds like a lot. Unless I'm being too tight.

Please advise.

As others have said, supply your own oil.

My first service and future oil services were priced at £330 until I then asked for a quote after providing my own oil.. it was reduced to £117, that said I do my own oil changes every 10k now though due to high mileage
