Exterior looks like a CLA.

All things digital are less expensive to the carmaker than equivalent things mechanical. This can mean HVAC and entertainment systems (replaced by large touchscreens), and drivetrains (replaced by batteries and electric motors).

Also read a recent article that the C63 gets half the number of cylinders and an electric motor. Ugh...

This has been the rumor for years, yes. However, it's not clear that we will learn details about the top tier AMG on the 23rd. Presumably they will, however, fully reveal the second tier AMG model (whether it is called C43 or C53 or something else). It too, is reported to be dropping cylinders - from a V6 to an I4.

All 9G-Tronic.

C 63's electric motor is on the rear axle which will apparently yield a 50/50-ish weight distribution.

C 43 release this summer, C 63e early next year.

Base W/S206 will have 2.5-degree rear-axle steer. Airmatic is gone due to low demand.

^ Thanks! It appears that the original source for that is:

https://jesmb.de/5729/

I am familiar with this website, but don't have a good sense for just how accurate they typically are. It all sounds very plausible based on past rumor, though. I guess we'll see on the 23rd.

If that C63e label turns out to be correct, and the rumors of the same "63e" name being used for an upcoming M178 V8-based PHEV setup also prove accurate, that will be an unfortunate reuse of the same nomenclature to represent very different powertrain setups.

Wouldn't call them junk, but also wouldn't go out of my way to get one. Which is why I've never owned an E30 M3. I'll take an I6 from the same era every day of the week.

4 cylinders are just not my thing. Don't like the way they sound, don't like their character and don't like the NVH from there. The only 4 cylinder that I remotely like is from the Honda S2000, but even then, I still prefer the powertrain in my Z4M (for the same price).

I'm surprised they killed the 6 cylinders completely already. The V8 I kind of get, but wow.

If I'm forced to go 4 cyl, I'll probably just concede to getting an EV. A big part of ICE is displacement...doesn't have to be a V8, but it certainly can't be anything less than a V6/i6 (actually 5 cyl is cool...but nothing less or I'm going electric). Unfortunate reality...

They aren't arbitrary. I don't want an engine that sounds like a lawnmower, and has tons of piped in bigger displacement sounds no matter how much power is being pushed through it. For me that's the tipping point of "why not go EV".

Exactly, it's completely arbitrary. The number of cylinders has nothing to do with how the exhaust sounds, unless you are doing straight pipes, but that's not a "thing" for production cars.

Only thing that seems nice to me about the latest iteration of mercs is the new design of the steering wheel.

That's just not true. The number of cylinders absolutely determine a car's character, including the exhaust (at least from the outside, not piped in noise).

Or buy a low mileage used and hang onto it. I refuse to go EV far a great number of reasons.
